Hidden Brain on KOSU

Post by High Spy »

University of Chicago Champagne-Urbana sold lunch salad by the pound.

Listening now, it’s a weekly show on The Spy FM. 8-)

Has anyone listened to Hidden Brain, or know how to post a transcript. :?: :?:

I’m a big fan of Hidden Brain. I don’t recall whether they post transcripts. If they do, there should be a link on each episodes information page.

Hidden Brain is one of my favorites. Most of the weekend programs on my local public radio station are my favorites. The Moth, Snap Judgement, Wait, Wait, don't tell me, This American Life and On the Media are favorites as well.

How to Spot a Scam
October 9, 2023
We like to think that con artists only prey upon the weak, or gullible. But psychologist Dan Simons says all of us can fall victim to scams, because the best scammers know how to take advantage of our biases and blindspots.

Escaping Perfectionism

Perfectionism is everyone’s favorite flaw. It’s easy to assume that our push to be perfect is what leads to academic, athletic, and professional success. But psychologist Thomas Curran says perfectionism has a dark side =~
Spot a Scam played yesterday. :?

The time listed is Central Standard Time where said university is located.

It’s where on a few occasions, Dr. Betty Glad favored us with a fine lunch. 😋

New rule: never, never, ever, ever not link and run. ;)

It's also available as a podcast: https://hiddenbrain.org

It's all about how our brains work: the good, the bad, and the ugly. I haven't listened to the scam episode yet, but explaining how scams work by preying on the biases and blindspots we all have is a great topic.

Please allow “Ask Alexa to play KOSU =~ will link soon” in the OP, so live events can post quickly.

My main focus at the time was Deen, as in Cheryl Deen Glad who is a part of my public records.

Another name anomaly, fresh from reading an earlier fund raising thread. 8-)

InTheKnow began Food Waste on FF ... Interesting post #58, after an extended absence extolling the virtues of #57.

Listening to Hidden Brain on KOSU just now the words “these poor people” came to my mind a few seconds before the guest said them. The show is about cravings, addictions and stuff. ... The Craving Mind is the guests book.
This is a very good episode currently in progress.

I'll check this out. Sounds interesting. If it played on Alexa that would be awesome.

The bottom two are Alaska stations that I often listen to on my long morning commutes. And https://kbyr.com/ has Glenn Beck interspersed with many commercials. Every year Alaska residents get a PFD (Permanent Fund Dividend) payment, and public radio is a popular beneficiary.

KOSU is three hours ahead, so I can hear morning news at my insanely early 3:57 AM alarm. If Alexa responds that something is offline and won’t play, try telling her to “resume” or “resume playing iHeart radio” and that will often do the trick.

Especially commercial free links to similar content is most appreciated.
