Re: Mormon churches are not an exceptionally dangerous place for children

The bishop wasn’t told by the helpline to report the abuse. Full stop. Because of this, the abuse continued for 6 more years. This was the direct consequence of the church’s policy to not disclose when they have the legal right and moral obligation to. The Mormon church can easily put in place a pol...

Re: How Many People Did the Mopologists Baptize?

And yet this doesn't seem to weigh on DCP in the slightest; returning to Switzerland isn't a reminder of the fact that he didn't manage to baptize a single person. Instead, it's his favorite vacation spot on planet earth. If you get to live at your favorite spot on earth, why sweat over conversions...

Time has not vindicated Hugh Nibley

Interpreter has been publishing some of Hugh's audio tapes from the 1950s. They are an interesting insight into naïve Mormon apologetics before the era of the Tanners. Hugh and his listeners in the 1950s are completely unaware of the 1832 account of the First Vision, since it is still at this time b...

Re: All atheists should be nihilists

I’m not sure I’ve met an atheist who was an actual nihilist. But I’ve learned to be skeptical towards theists who tell me what I must believe. 😂 Why would a theist do that? I, for one, would never tell someone what they MUST believe . I think you might be overstating this. I would encourage anyone,...

Re: How long/intensely did you believe in the historicity of the Book of Mormon?

The answer for me is “Never.” I never understood as a kid why my history classes at school didn’t include Book of Mormon material. And then, when I was 10 or 11, I had a Sunday school teacher who said something to the effect of, “Joseph had the Gold Plates, but he didn’t show them to anyone! And th...

Current Mormon archeological expeditions?

Are there any? Or is it only the Heartlanders who have faith enough to keep looking for Zarahemla? Iowa is known for its rich soil, and a group of Mormon researchers hope that same soil holds the secrets to a lost sacred city. The Heartland Research Group thinks it may have found the site of Zarahem...

I can very easily imagine that kid enjoying bible bashing much more than spreading the Good News.

Re: The burden is now upon those who deny the ancient origins of the Book of Mormon

It's 2022 and we still have not found the city of Zarahemla. A city of 100,000 people, larger than Jerusalem in Christ's day. Lost without any shred of evidence. Taken up to heaven like the plates of gold...

Re: How Many People Did the Mopologists Baptize?

I remember showing DCP's Mormon Stories interview to someone who was a non-member in order to give them some idea of what Mormonism was about and its good qualities.

That person could only stand about 5 minutes of it and then kindly asked me if we could stop listening to it.
