Re: Interpreter 2.0?

No mention of the editing support from the good folks at the “obsession board.” He will mention every other tiny thing related to him that happens here but not this, of course.

Re: Zoom Me Up, Jesus?

I wonder if they talk about the Star Trek episodes that deal with having unlimited power and time? The Mormon God seems a lot like the capricious Q Q does fit very well with the Mormon God character. He’s relatively small time compared to his peers, and enjoys toying with those lesser than him. Mak...

Re: Interpreter 2.0?

Those members of the board of the Interpreter Foundation who were able to do so spent most of today together (or, in one case, with us via Zoom) in a board retreat. It was the first such meeting that we’ve ever had, and it was a good opportunity to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the organi...

Re: Interpreter 2.0?

The article has been revised without any sign of credit or note: The world we choose to live in determines, among many other things, how we read scripture. Those who have chosen to live in God’s world read a different Bible and Book of Mormon than those who have chosen to live in a godless world. Da...

Re: Interpreter 2.0?

They must be referring to someone other than Peterson. Have we looked for this Dan Petersen? Dan Peterson has insisted that Interpreter articles go through a stringent process of peer review and editing, and must be of the highest quality before release.

Re: Deny Deny Deny Powerful Men and their "crimes".

That can’t be the real Joseph Smith. The lovely young hunky looking boy from Witnesses? That Joseph would never do anything wrong!

Re: So we know the 'church' is a fraud, where does that leave...

I often think of the LDS church as positioned between Scientology and mainstream Christianity. It’s not as harmful as Scientology or as obviously fraudulent, and its leaders are not as malicious as David Miscavidge. But at the same time the LDS church has a track record of hiding history, hiding fin...

Yeah, a fraud would be when they are trying to peddle something that is not true. I know you are smart enough to understand why your statement is problematic. Your view is it’s not a fraud because it’s a religion? Even if Joseph started it fraudulently, the leaders today believe and that’s sufficie...

Re: So we know the 'church' is a fraud, where does that leave...

It's definitely nothing to write home about. But it's not the rapid decline that most anti/exMormons would wish for. Doesn't look like a decline at all. You can't include the data during COVID lockdowns in an analysis because those were exceptional circumstances. If you are going to include them as...

The last few years of LDS growth rate: They're basically back to before-COVID numbers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Membership_history_of_the_Church_of_Jesus_Christ_of_Latter-day_Saints This isn't ticking up or down. If you remove the outliers caused by social distancing and closing churches, it's...
