DNA vs the Book of Mormon (DNA BoMs)
Hi Folks, Its been ages since my last visit. I hope the site has been humming along. It’s been a while since I first hopped on my DNA hobby horse in 2004. It’s time to saddle up again. There has been a pile of human genetics research published in the last 20 years. It’s high time for some DNA update...

Re: Independent LDS researcher puts active membership at 6 million
Church critics, Stewart acknowledged, would no doubt chalk up his pessimistic projections to the idea that the faith’s beliefs and practices no longer resonate with many in today’s world. “I disagree with that,” he said. “The shortfall in the growth of the LDS Church is not ultimately about the mes...

Re: Jenn Kamp Files Lawsuit Against John Dehlin
Recently fired Open Stories Foundation employee Jenn Kamp launches a salvo over John Dehlin’s bow with new six-minute video about her planned lawsuit. https://youtu.be/9SAWM-YJwaQ Jenn lost a pile of credibility by going public with her private grievance. Peggy Fletcher Stack will be sharpening her...

Mexican horse manure - a new low for Mormon apologetics
Mormon social media is in a feeding frenzy at the moment, with remarkable claims that evidence of horses has finally been found in Mexico. Jasmine, at the TikTok SpripturePlus site, has been gloating about the supposed evidence. This one should come with a cringe warning. https://www.tiktok.com/@scr...

Re: New Project Shows Church Finance Corruption
There is no doubt the church is funneling charitable donations from SLC through Australian accounts to obtain charitable status. This then allows members to claim all of their tax back on their tithing. It is also double dipping. Tax will have already been reclaimed on the US charitable donations. ...

Re: New Project Shows Church Finance Corruption
Has anyone else been monitoring the tax loophole investigation in Australia? This really is interesting. I am no international tax attorney, just a curious onlooker at most. I assume our friend Simon Southerton might be able to shed some light on the latest goings-on, as he's quoted in some of the ...

Re: Church Is Hemorrhaging Stakes
Australia The Church in Australia discontinued the Gosford Australia Stake in June, marking only the second time a stake has been discontinued in Australia. The only other time the Church has discontinued a stake in Australia was in 2011 when the Sydney Australia Parramatta Stake was discontinued. ...

Re: Stephen Smoot's Vendetta
It's rather breathtaking just how much of the scientific corpus the Heartlanders tackle in the name of reconciling this basic proposition -- Joseph Smith's most fundamental proposition -- that all of the various scriptural accounts are literally true, including many literal historical representatio...

Re: John Gee FAIR interview with Scott Gordon
To me this is tantamount to admitting that it's possible his entire career has been a complete waste of time . I bet he'd disagree on the grounds that his entire career has been in service of one goal: to defend the Church at all hazards. So this latest admission, such as it is, is likely just his ...

Re: John Gee FAIR interview with Scott Gordon
 PS. Gee said he is open to the Catalyst Theory as a fallback, second choice. Is this admission as momentous as it looks? Hasn't Gee devoted his career to defending the missing scroll theory and Joseph Smith's skill's as a translator? Now he is admitting the catalyst theory isn't a bad option...
