Re: Teaching children myths

I understand kids like to see things in black and white. They like to envision an ideal world, so I'm told. Do you think they are too young to hear such beliefs of mine? Do you think it is better to wait until they are older and can accept ideas the adults might see them or is that counter producti...

Re: advice for TBM regarding garment modesty

I had married friends at BYU who would pin sleeves. The only justification they gave was that it's too difficult to find cute clothes that work with garments. Was that very common? It is frowned upon with all the Mormons I know. At the temple it was drilled into us that we were never to tuck or pin...

Re: advice for TBM regarding garment modesty

I don't understand why garments would be a problem with that shirt. The new garments have a scoop neck, and as Harmony pointed out, if you wear the top on the small side size-wise, you shouldn't have a problem with lace showing through. From the picture I'm wondering if the length of the sleeve is ...

Re: advice for TBM regarding garment modesty

Cute. What's the problem? Buy smaller g's. You can see from the side up the sleeve. Even smaller would not do the trick. No way around this one. It requires pinning. Pinning is the sign of jack Mormon and hence the apprehension. This company designs shirts to snugly cover the garment and wear under...

Re: General Conference Thread

The social justice part is actually around 9:27. Not as harsh a condemnation as it needs to be, but I think the implication is that those working for social justice are actually working for sin (homosexual marriage or racial quotas or redistribution of wealth, etc.). Thanks BC, I edited the time.

Re: General Conference Thread

My boyfriend listened to Saturday’s sessions and said there were some harsh statements made towards women in the church along the lines of leaders not wanting to hear women whine about being overwhelmed with all their responsibilities. Anyone else notice that? Beastie, I missed Beck's talk on Satur...

Re: General Conference Thread

On a more positive note I thought President Uchdorfs Sunday AM talk was one of the best Easter Sermons I ever recall. I think I will print it and keep it handy. His talk at priesthood on the virtue of patience was pretty good as well. I concur! Elder Uchtdorf gave a beautiful talk, and he also gave...

Re: General Conference Thread

There was only one talk I remember disliking. It was the guy who made a negative comment about social justice. Seven, do you have any specifics about this, such as who, what and when this was said? Hi Moksha, It was by Elder Todd Christofferson who spoke on the scriptures. My first impression on he...

Re: General Conference Thread

I was bad. I didn't watch any of conference today. We saw "How to Train A Dragon" at the matinee instead. What did I miss? Well now we know what kind of NOM you are. ;) I watch Saturday and Sunday. haha Elder Holland gave a very powerful talk (as usual) on the danger of pornography and in...

Re: Alice in Wonderland

I agree that the point the movie had was a good one but I grew up on the original. The whole point of Alice's journey is that it had no point. It was pure madness, and fun for it. I'm worried now that with the success of this someone will remake "The Phantom Tollbooth" and put in some kin...
