Re: Are they keeping the apostle slot for Mitt?

I have to say that I'm really sad that he's likely not going to get the nomination. You always here that the voter doesn't like either person at the election - well they have someone they could like if they took the time to get to know his thoughts. Just my view - Now that it looks like a McCain/Hu...

Re: God Without The Supernatural

Hey All, Anyone given much thought to whether the concept of "God" could meaningfully be used to refer to something other than a supernatural entity? Is there, or could there be, such a thing as "God" within a wholly naturalistic framework? Why? Why not? What, if anything, do yo...

Interesting. There is also a large and interrelated body of research showing that those who are more religious are more likely to enjoy high levels of social support. Go figure. Don My amateur hypothesis would dictate as well that "lonely" people (what ever that means) are more likely to ...

Through this whole thing, I have tried to refrain from saying anything. I did not see all the posts, nor do I understand what started it all, but I have been leaning on the side of jskains.... but it takes two parties to tango, and I believe Josh kept pouring gas on a fire that he should have walked...

I and my preschool age children are also counted in that number. We are all atheists. I heard a big reason why so many non-Mormons are counted as Mormons is because children born to members on the rolls are counted (like your children you mention here), but when they turn eight and are not baptized...

Re: Steve Benson - Poster Child?

I should not have read the article. I quit posting over at RfM because of people like Benson and SLCabbie, who seem to have a strange litmus test for what makes a true ex-Mormon. Frankly, the guy behaves like a prick over there.. ..the Steve Benson show is not the face I would want put on ex-Mormon...

How do you see your dreams? Do you believe they are a precursor to upcoming events (prophetic dreams), reflections of your daytime thinking, or something else? From what you said, it seems that you feel there is something foretelling about it. Can you tell us what happened in your dream, and what yo...

I don't think he'll get the nomination, either. But I also think Benson didn't allow for the fact that some Mormons are more liberal than others in their interpretation of Mormonism. Not everyone that bows their head and says "yes" in the temple does whatever the prophet says. It seems that Steve B...

When I was 5, I wanted to be a taxi cab driver for the rest of my life. When I was 20, I wanted to be a hotel manager for the rest of my life. When I was 22, I wanted to be a psychologist. Now I don't know what I want. Rational people change their beliefs based on new justification (and defeaters of...
