Re: Charles Darwin - Sacred Cause - Abolitionist?

It truly boggles the mind how anyone can come up with such a warped synopsis of Stein's agenda. But then, Moniker doesn't have time to read books on the subject. It is enough, apparently, to view a youtube clip. Actually, critic30, I was merely showing how Stein does link Darwin to Hitler and says,...

Re: Charles Darwin - Sacred Cause - Abolitionist?

Chap wrote:I do tend agree that if there is a deity who intended evolution to operate, then the old Jewish saying would apply to him:

"If God lived on earth, people would break his windows"

It is difficult, for me, to reconcile God with evolution, yet, not for the reasons Shades has stated.

Re: Charles Darwin - Sacred Cause - Abolitionist?

Moniker, thanks for directly pointing out that survival of the fitist is the foundation of love and cooperation not agrressive violent hitler types who get deposited on the reject pile. Huckleberry, I had the opportunity to visit with two women that ventured to my home earlier to pass out literatur...

Re: Charles Darwin - Sacred Cause - Abolitionist?

Showing that all humans have common ancestry actually can make us less likely to view "others" as less than human, eh? In theory, but clearly not always in practice. It certainly didn't give the Nazis that sense of oneness. Have you actually read Richard Weikart's book on this matter? I d...

Re: Charles Darwin - Sacred Cause - Abolitionist?

I'm so pleased posters were able to find something worthwhile to discuss from my free association thread. Evolution isn't allll about survival of the fittest in the form of the most aggressive, strongest, selfish individuals, etc.... It's just as much about those that are just enough to survive and ...

Re: Charles Darwin - Sacred Cause - Abolitionist?

Well, doesn't the LDS Church teach that some are not as valiant in the pre-existence? Doesn't the LDS Church have doctrine that goes against evolution? I thought it certainly did! It appears that early church leaders believed that their innate righteousness necessitated God's command that they spre...

Re: In defense of the LDS Church

It may lack a rational basis but that does not make it non-absolute. I believe morality extends down from a higher sphere. If you believe that morality is not based on 'feelings' then can you rationally explain why everything you think is bad is bad. For example, can you defend some of the position...

Re: In defense of the LDS Church

Do you want me to tell you what I thnk of your avatar and what it says about you ? I think not. :) Be careful. The film's creator, Hayao Miyazaki, makes some of the best animated films ever (in my opinion). I do wonder, however, what you do think of the Lady Eboshi. Abman, we've talked about this b...
