Re: "don't embarrass yourself by asking about metallurgy..."

The whole Mormon concept is set up that way. It is based on preposterous claims (without virtually any physical evidence) of God, angels, and magic books. Many apologists are enamoured with the witness statements, but those are not relevant to anyone. We don't know them and have no reason to believ...

Wouldn't that make things a lot easier? Why doesn't God actually do this?

We'll ignore your non sequitur for a moment... You didn't answer my question.

For yourself (a believer in the content), how valuable is your knowledge about the existence of the plates?

Re: "don't embarrass yourself by asking about metallurgy..."

Having the Gold plates in a museum somewhere would not cause people to believe in Mormonism. That requires faith in God. It would make little to no difference (and would in fact be couter productive) in people's faith. The reason it would be counter productive is that people would instead believe t...

Re: Temple Divorce and Sealings to Children Question

If the children remain legally yours, they cannot be sealed to him. Women have a much harder time getting a temple divorce than men. Mormonism is a Cult and the temple ceremonies they use were stolen from the Masons. Both are phoney, both are fake - and are nothing more than fairy tales, smoke and ...

Temple Divorce and Sealings to Children Question

I'll be surprised if my soon to be ex-wife doesn't ask me for a temple divorce in a few years when she finally finds her worthy believing Mormon man. I don't have any reservations granting this to her other than a vague recollection I have of what happens to the sealing of my children at that point....

Re: Temple covenants made during a sealing ceremony?

Your wife sounds the kind of person who might be perfectly happy to leave you without a home, children or most of your income if she can get away with it. What is more, the church will probably be on her side. Protect yourself now. After what your wife has done, that is hardly a hostile act - and s...

Re: Temple covenants made during a sealing ceremony?

My dear Mad Viking (I love Vikings, by the way), I think your wife should have said, "I *feel* like you are betraying me." That seems more appropriate to me. It is also likely much closer to the truth. I understand this sentiment. God's speed my friend from the north. My heart goes out to...

Re: Temple covenants made during a sealing ceremony?

3 kids. Married 15 years. Married 12 when I got an angry phone call from one of the guys' wife. Tried to make it work for the sake of my sweet kids. Saw signs of something happening again. Got a divorce foisted on me when I confronted her. The BS about me betraying the covenants I made to her about ...
