Why do folks in the USA use the phrase Happy Holidays?
Some friends over at the US Army base at RAF Mildenhall, all say Happy Holidays, rather than Happy Christmas, even some TBM's do this. Is it just a habit that has crept in, or is it done to be inclusive of the Jewish Festival of Hanukkah? What is wrong with the universal greeting of Happy Christmas?...

Re: Purpose of Home Teaching
I always got the impression that our Home Teachers were something like the Word of Wisdom police.
Eyes were everywhere.
Looking for ashtrays, coffee jars and tea pots.

Rambo,
Why not freeze your head just until the the world proves the teachings of the Church to be true?
Oh No, You don't wish to be frozen forever!

Brigham Young's Presidential Pardon.
I recently read (somewhere) that Brigham Young was granted a Presidential Pardon by President Buchanan in 1858. Was this a pardon for his involvement (blocking Federal Troops) in the Utah War, or was it for his involvement with the September 11, 1857, Mountain Meadows Massacre? If it was for the MMM...

Re: UT Mormons Imposing Religion on Everyone Else--Again
On a more serious level, Mormons impose their religion even in the marking of a gravesite. The Mountain Meadows Massacre Memorial would have a Christian cross atop it or at least near by, had it been erected by any other denomination. Mormons killed the Fancher party, belatedly apologised, and then...

Re: The Church publishes it's financial information...
Hi Jon, Agreserves Ltd at Manor Farm, Woodwalton, Cambs is an arable farm growing wheat. I telephoned them at Manor farm this morning and spoke to a nice lady Receptionist by the name of Ann who told me that they work in conjunction with England Farm Properties, it was a bad line, but she informed m...

Harmony, the subsidy is for all farmers and comes from European Union coffers rather than the Government. Good grief. No wonder the EU is going broke... (not that I know much of anything about farming in Europe, but the church does NOT need subsidized) Does the church claim charitable status? Churc...

Prayers and good thoughts go out to Doc Shades at this time.
My Grandfather could be a cantankerous old boy, I guess that was one reason he was loved so much. I miss him, even though he passed twenty or so years ago.

Re: The Church publishes it's financial information...
Hi Jon, Thanks for putting me right. I see that the church farming arm, Agreserve are allowed to receive huge EEU farm subsidies for their privately owned farms in the UK. Though you are probably already aware of this. Just looked up farm subsidies online and see that the church is reportedly the la...
