Re: Mormons arguing that “Mormon” is as derogatory as the N-word

*scratching my head* Some people seem to give the N-word a pass if reading the word or hearing it while watching a film. Some books have it once which to me is enough and some have it through out the story; films too. I tend to agree with a former poster is that - are you alone when this is watched ...

Re: DCP Admits that Joseph Smith's Polygamy was "Probably" Motivated by "Sexual Desire"

James Buchanan, President of the United States prior to Lincoln, was a bachelor all his life. He did fall in love in his early years but the young woman passed leaving him completely broken. He served as a Senator, Secretary of State, and Minister to England, prior to be inaugurated in as President ...

Re: DCP Admits that Joseph Smith's Polygamy was "Probably" Motivated by "Sexual Desire"

Sorry DCP, plural marriage exists when a legislative brach passes laws allowing it to take place and the executive branch signs it. If they don't pass it in legislation then it's an extra-legal marriage meaning a marriage the courts won't recognize. It's not legal or lawful. Great for the guys, lous...

Re: Collaboration Between Artist and Audience

A couple different points: As to God, whatever a person says to me about their God is not important as watching where their feet are during the year as that will tell me more about their God than anything said; no filling or guessing is necessary. Are they into money or service as that will explain ...

Re: Why is it that the exMormon men think publicly lying about and defaming women is the best strategy?

In the American legal system I don’t think it’s possible for Dehlin to be found guilty. He’s too powerful and Rosebud is too weak and powerless to gather enough evidence to sway a jury. We need a new legal system that allows Rosebud to win based on hearsay and unsubstantiated allegations. Hearsay a...

Re: Why is it that the exMormon men think publicly lying about and defaming women is the best strategy?

When I was thinking of going to law school in the '90s and then decided not to, I remember attending something where a lawyer gave a heart breaking story. Then he explained why the person had no case. He went on with different heart breaking stories and then went on to explain why people wanting to ...

Re: Traveling Back in Time

Two points: First, in 1846 I believe Arizona was part of Mexico and the Catholic Church had a huge pull in the area. 2nd, I never understood the Mormon view which was/is abortion was/is bad except in the case of rape, incest or the life of the mother. If one believes there is a life or one is formin...

Re: Praise to the Man

Thanks drumdude. I tend to agree. There's a great book out with a blue cover by Roger Thompson called Do The Next Right Thing. He cautions about taking a few snapshots of a person and then saying this is what he is like. A big fan of Simon Peter, Thompson points out his flaws but noted that Jesus al...
