Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"

The last time I expressed my skepticism in these parts regarding the "Dartmouth Connection," I was chided for materializing out of the blue to mock people (in that instance, Randy Bell) and for not keeping an open mind. I thought my emphatic rejection of Nielsen's theory on the other board as "utte...

Re: Lars Nielsen's "How the Book of Mormon Came to Pass"

I know that's going to trigger Kish. But it's true, I'm not persuaded by the "Kircher-Nephi" theory. There is no evidence that John Smith ever read anything by Kircher. And it's not reasonable to assume that he would have. Kircher was hardly mentioned in North American scholarship in Smith's lifeti...

Melissa Inouye's Message To The Church

Five days before her death, Melissa Inouye sat down with her friend, and SLTrib reporter, Tamarra Kemsley and discussed some changes she would like to see in the Church. Melissa asked that this interview not be published until after her death. Melissa on the old boy's network in the Church: And the ...

Re: It's Deja Vu all over again

According to Wikipedia, the SLC Temple is 222 feet tall (from the base to the top of Angel Moroni's head). So, to give you an idea how tall the Church wants this temple to be, it would be 6 feet shorter. If you cut the Angel Moroni in half, that's how tall this new temple will be at its highest poin...

Re: The Insane Stupidly of Mormonism

Hmmmm. A founder who was convicted of fraudulent treasure seeking with a seer stone, to finding Golden Plates which he then translated with the same seer stone, to then fraudulently ruining a bank and the financial lives of thousands, to then lying about his polygamy and then destroying a printing p...

Re: Pissing on "Frenchy"'s Grave?; Or, a Case Study in Mopologetic Selfishness

Well this is convenient. One of Frenchy's wives is Wanda... ...Wanda happens to be a relative of mine (a ninth cousin). Therefore, Frenchy is a distant in-law cousin. So all my work on their records was very appropriate... Hm. So, Frenchy's 'nearest living relative' was a ninth cousin by marriage t...

Re: It's Deja Vu all over again

From the article, "In Lone Mountain, homes are required to stand no higher than two stories. The 216-foot temple would dwarf all buildings in the area. In order to illustrate just how much taller the temple would be, some residents floated a balloon 216 feet high in the air on Saturday" https://i.da...
