Re: A good Mormon man, “until he put a bullet through … their heads.”

Re: Historical Predynastic Egypt vs. Book of Abraham False Narrative

LDS historian Benjamin Park similarly notes that the direct link to Dick is tenuous and the ideas could have come from...

Re: Historical Predynastic Egypt vs. Book of Abraham False Narrative

From the Wikipedia: According to Fawn Brodie, Smith's idea of Kolob may have been derived from the "throne of God" idea found in Thomas Dick's The Philosophy of a Future State,[48] which Brodie said Smith "had recently been reading" before dictating the Book of Abraham, and which "made a lasting imp...

Re: Mormon Unorthodoxy at SeN

This episode might send Moriarty and RFM over Reichenbach Falls, but RFM will return clad in a Marvel T-shirt and hopefully some pants.

Unless I am mistaken I don't think Dan has ever said he doesn't believe in the historicity of the Book of Mormon
If Dan can make determinations regarding the fact and fiction of biblical stories, why could he not do so for the Book of Mormon? Unless it has something to do with LDS employability.

Re: Backyard Professor Expounds on How the Church Guilts its Members

I remember on the LDS Forum of Beliefnet reading the women talking about confessing to the bishop. The details they wanted these women to expand on and the number of times they asked them to repeat the story made me realize that some of the bishops were using the confessional as their own private Pe...
