Re: SeN Expresses Concern Over The Church's Public Image

After writing about what I think are common non-LDS perceptions related to their observations of Temple matters, I'm thinking about how LDS missionaries may address the matter and try to alleviate concerns. I know from experience that any conversation about the Temple almost certainly ends up with a...

Re: SeN Expresses Concern Over The Church's Public Image

Here are some comments and questions I've heard from fellow non-LDS (pertaining to the temple only) that help explain the negative image: "Why is their church closed to the public?" (coming from the considerable number who think the LDS Temple is the one and only meeting place) "Why do they tear fam...

Re: Why Do Biblical Christians Think God Doesn't Inspire the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Kishkumen, your response along with Physic Guy's succinct and 'on the money' reply a couple of posts before yours really do tell it all. People do find their own paths and adhere to their own views - hopefully, with respect for others. Though the 'respect' part can be questioned, I see. What about c...

Re: Why Do Biblical Christians Think God Doesn't Inspire the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Replying in the same sincere vein that I think lies behind the question, I would give my succinct answer as - Jesus cannot be 'owned' or corporatized. In my view, the whole thrust of God's good news is that progressive revelation (Genesis to Revelation) shows God's love and God's Kingdom were first ...

Re: Plea to support DCPs blog

Perhaps DCP and Midgley revel in the thought that their continued mockery of dissidents along with the threats to limit or ban critics' presence on sic et non causes angst to their critics. The only angst I feel is sorrow that Midgley at this point in his long life seems to think what counts in his ...

But I do expect 'more' from DCP as I would think he'd expect of himself - as a compassionate Christian.
At SeN, they would laugh at you in parseltongue.
So true!
I'd come back with "though I speak with tongues of angels, and have not love! ..."

(Cue more parseltongue laughter - I know!)

Re: Plea to support DCPs blog

I'm still handing it to Midgley. Over 90 and he's still so obsessive about getting in his religious taunts. I mean, the man has to believe this crap. I hand to gemli too for sticking around and pointing out their foolish ideas and teachings. I lasted, what? 2 months last summer (or whenever it was)...

Re: The distance between Christianity and the 4 Gospels

I came across this statement, and thought it rather insightful: "People don't leave Christianity because they stop believing in the teachings of Jesus. People leave the Christian Church because they believe in the teachings of Jesus so much, they can't stomach being part of an institution that clai...

Re: The functional banality of LDS temples

If the Latter Day Saints don't have access to the 'true' temple referred to above, then who does? Regards, MG All Christians who believe in Jesus. Jesus referred to His own body as a fulfilment of the Temple. (He also is the sacrifice, the sacrificial Lamb, the altar, the scapegoat, and anything an...

Re: Time to Call It: "Witnesses" is a Box Office Flop

Do you think part of the reason the general LDS population have been largely disinterested in this movie is that it's too much like everyday church fare, whether sacrament service or Gospel Doctrine and Sunday school class, or even seminary classes? That doesn't necessarily mean that people are unfa...
