Re: The distance between Christianity and the 4 Gospels

Physics Guy, can I ask your help on a bit of a puzzle in this thread? It has been proposed from various sources that it is possible that consecutive universes or parallel universes could run on different basic principals and structures. I find that odd but of course I cannot show it to be incorrect....

Re: Did Jesus think he was the Son of Man?

Ehrman has the virtue of being both concise and clear in his writing. He does not wander far from or sort of centrist scholarly view at this time. I think he has good observations to share. He does not have the only view possible however. I do not wish to attach my thinking to one source alone. Eve...

Re: Utah Vs Oregon Tonight (Football)

Without extensive familiarity and never have lived in Utah,,, I thought University of Utah up there on the hills overlooking Salt Lake City was the gentile school with the LDS folks all to the south in Provo.

Oversimplification perhaps.

Re: Find out if God is real, and connect with him

Hrm. It appears your philosophy falls into pantheism. Am I wrong? - Doc my own view would be more of an unresolved discussion between Panentheism , classic Christian theology and naturalism. With any of these , well i might wander further some occasions I would like to keep the existential basics no...

Re: The distance between Christianity and the 4 Gospels

Oh dear, a truly troubling observation about this thread. I cannot see or find anything even vaguely like a rabbit. Do we live in multiple parallel worlds? Bits of this tread might sound like it. Feed the back of the duck's head a carrot and pet the beak as if they were ears. https://www.ocf.berkel...

Re: Find out if God is real, and connect with him

Up front, I want to point out I’m not being facetious when I ask the following: I would say that god is the ground of being What does that literally mean? … and our ultimate concern. Why? Concretely, why is a concern in your god our ultimate concern? That could be said creator of heaven and earth a...

Re: Why It Didn’t Happen that Way. The Stories of Jesus’ Birth

I am not sure how to connect to a discussion on this. It came to my mind that Luke and his first audience would have been pretty familiar with the problem presented with the world census idea. I do not think I want to claim it must be literally reliable because of that suggestion. It might be sugges...

Re: The distance between Christianity and the 4 Gospels

Morley, I think you make an important point. I am unsure if belief is always a good (or bad) thing. Sometimes it is trivial and unproductive. There have been more than enough times belief has generated evil. You have lost me on your new image. An odd duck? well not a duck but perhaps a naturalists ...

Re: Find out if God is real, and connect with him

Malkie, a variant point of view, I am not aware of any reason to think there is more than one god. I know there are different names and doctrines and representatives but I cannot see those as creating different gods. Pastafarianism may well have a more meal orientated cult than others but that does...
