Re: ? for Unca Dale
Me: Once we start crunching numbers from Clavigero and Maccabees, we will find that Spalding borrowed from them, making his "authorship" clearer. Roger: Are you working on that? I have done textual analysis on Clavigero, and there are more than thirty parallels, some of them extremely unl...

Re: ? for Unca Dale
... we'd all have to agree that the sample texts were actually from Rigdon. ... In fact, I'm now convinced that the Book of Mormon quasi-Christian Nephites are Spalding's creation (modified by Pratt and Cowdery) with very little input from Rigdon. Rigdon's "voice" in Mosiah-Alma is fading...

Re: Two Cumorahs
I call Cahokia the primary one. Well, from the historical Book of Mormon side of things, Cahokia long postdates Nephite civilization. Well, from the historical side of things, maybe your timeline for the Book of Mormon is wrong!!!! A verifiable historical timeline of events. Truth. If it lives up t...

Cement is a mistranslation. It simply means stone.
One "Cumorah" is enough for me--I call Cahokia the primary one, although the Mexican civilizations, being culturally associated, were secondarily so.
That said, there are a lot of wild imaginings in the Book of Mormon.

Re: Mopologetics: Throwing the Bible under the bus.
I have Maccabees in my NRSV HarperCollins Study Bible. But I am a bit unusual among evangelicals. I acknowledge that. Blending a bit towards mainstream. I have a HarperCollins Study Bible checked out from the library for a paper copy. For actual quotes I am getting it from internet. I'm wondering i...
