Re: When Doubts and Questions Arise - March Ensign
I suppose it's more of an approach to difficult questions/issues. Remaining open, or becoming closed minded. Regards, MG Actually, I think it's more of an approach to difficult answers. Some accept the answers for what they are, answers. Some choose to place those answers on a mental shelf to allow...

Holland, Chapman Uni, Religious Freedom, and some lies
I am all for freedom of speech in this country. I have worked in politics for over 40 years to preserve this cherished right. As an Orange County, California resident, I for one would like to welcome Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church) to ou...

Re: Don't be afraid of Gospel Questions. Build a shelf.
As I understand it, unless you know something for sure there is always an element of doubt. I'll hand you that. There may be an element of doubt. Notice that previously I said 'dogmatic/entrenched doubt'. That excludes faith. An element of doubt doesn't negate having faith. Even if it's a degree/pa...

Sounds like an East Coast, or even a fictional Ward.

Re: LDS Church promotes Cafeteria Scouting - says Scout Lead
The main problem imho, is small Wards. Two or three boys does not a patrol or troop make. Nope, small wards is the symptom. 36% activity is the symptom. Under-utilised Temples is the symptom. Jensens "droves" is the symptom. Join those dots to understand the main problem, proof left to st...

Re: When Doubts and Questions Arise - March Ensign
by the way, in my estimation I think that is a natural tendency for folks to once they have shed their "Mormonism" and obedience to all of the commandments to find reason to justify and/or rationalize their decisions. That may entail choosing doubt, as the default, rather than questioning...

Re: Holland talks about the essays and historical questions
I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. According to Mormon Theology, the only things we chose were to follow Christ and come down here. This life is not a test of knowledge or belief, it is a proving ground. We are practicing how to become like God in an environment that simulates God's env...

Loophole the first: an iced latte is a banned "hot drink," but a caffeinated coke heated in the microwave would be just fine, albeit nasty to the taste and very undesirable. Loophole the second: decaffeinated coffee would be condemned by most hyper-Mormons as a violation of the Word of Wi...

Re: Holland talks about the essays and historical questions
. . . It still does not solve the problem of a terrible communication process that should not be trusted. This means we should give trust for methods that have reliability when the two conflict. Not the opposite that so many are guilty of doing. Reliability is not the sole consideration. Take, for ...
