Re: Radical Incoherence
If occurs to me that church membership is becoming just as divided along widening ideological fault lines as the United States has become. And to that point, take note: in 2020 we had BLM protests across America, and LGBTQ+ rights protests across BYU campuses. As usual, Dr Moore, you go to the hear...

Re: Radical Incoherence
If this is the proposition - Radical orthodoxy is radical because it promotes bold exploration beyond what is familiar, and therefore rejects the obstinateness of fundamentalism. ... and this is the claim ... Those who embrace radical orthodoxy are not afraid to ask questions, and they eschew dogma...

Re: Radical Incoherence
Yes, it could, Dean Robbers. It will be interesting to see whether they follow through and provide something of this nature.

Re: Radical Incoherence
You, of course, are free to take that position although it cuts you off from the mainstream church. I’ve read through this document a couple of times now and I would have to say I’m a hundred percent on board with it’s content. As I’ve mentioned in this forum, I believe it’s a form and/or degree of...

Re: Radical Incoherence
Kind of, yes. Not inasmuch as I think the two are polar opposites when it comes to thoughtfulness and sense of responsibility. The signatories to this statement are much more thoughtful and responsible than Kwaku is. In those respects they are light years apart.

Re: Radical Incoherence
Thanks for all of the great comments guys. In the morning light, what this looks to me is like putting a pair of groovy sunglasses on a bust of Gordon B. Hinckley. Wow! Cool dude! The Church is, like, true maaaannnnn! Take that you polygamists and librulz! We are, like, totes radical! We follow the ...

Re: Radical Incoherence
Right away, I am struck by what constitutes “orthodoxy” and qualifies as “radical.” Orthodox is defined as much by obedience to authority as anything, and that has little to do with the literal meaning of the word orthodox. “Radical,” according to Milbank’s usage, means to return to the roots. Here ...

Radical Incoherence
Through my Facebook network of “friends” I was made aware of an interesting manifesto written and signed from a viewpoint that seems partly apologetic in nature. The title, perhaps borrowed from theologian John Milbank, is misleading: Radical Orthodoxy . See https://latterdayorthodoxy.org/?fbclid=Iw...

Re: An exotic new argument for eye-witness testimony
I find utterly fascinating the continued inclusion of the witness “testimonies” to the plates. On the one hand, it must seem necessary to provide some kind of corroboration of their simple existence. But as soon as one considers the actual value of the testimony provided, and the circumstances under...
