Re: Stats prove when women are safer
The available data shows that a large majority of sexual assault perpetrators are young males. It's perplexing why society holds reservations against men dating much younger women, when available statistics indicate that young women might actually be safer dating an older man than a young one. It's...

Re: DCP conflates humanitarian aid with church welfare
Why does the Church need a rainy day fund in the first place? Don’t they trust that the members and officers of the church would consecrate their time and talents in operating and building up the kingdom of God on a volunteer basis? It's not the members that they don't trust. They don't trust God.

Re: BYU Now Offers A Class On Taylor Swift
I guess this is progress? It seems like this class is more useful than classes on the Book of Mormon or the Book of Abraham? At least Taylor Swift actually exists. https://universe.byu.edu/2024/01/09/ryan-davis-the-philosophy-of-taylor-swift%EF%BF%BC/ Kudos to the guy for finding the rare cardboard...

Re: Alice Neel
I agree, the idea that the US going into Iraq with an army would generate democracies in the middle east was not well thought out.Bush painting do not touch the actual aftermath of the war. There is a large amount of visual and reported record of that aftermath. Few painters would be able to make a...

Re: Alice Neel
I had forgotten or brushed aside the fact Hunter Biden is selling painting for big prices. Checking the internet I read, USA Today, that Republicans are investigating this. His gallery owner thinks hes great but of course gallery owners are salesman. Are they conducting a parallel investigation int...

Re: Alice Neel
That said, I'm happy that Bush is painting. He could be doing so much more harm in other ways.
In an art world where we reward KAWS, Schnabel, and Koons, Bush should fit right in.

Re: Alice Neel
Great topic, Huck. I admit that Bush’s pretense at being a painter kind of irritates me. But then, so do the self-identified painters Britney Spears, Sylvester Stallone, Hunter Biden, and Macaulay Culkin. To identify as an artist in the visual arts, all one has to do is announce to the world that yo...

Re: Temple Sealings of Dead People who Were Married More than Once
One could rephrase the heading. Or reorder the words. Or say "never-mormons." "Never-Mormons" -- quoth the Raven, had it been allowed to finish its sentence. (Oh, and spellcheck doesn't recognize the word "quoth.") Personally, I kind of like it the way it is. I very much like it the way it is. I wa...

Re: Temple Sealings of Dead People who Were Married More than Once
Yeah, the ever-lovable "Never-Mo's." I'd say it's arguably permissible under this rare exception: An apostrophe is indispensable, however, in the rare case in which you need to pluralize a letter of the alphabet or some other unusual form which would become unrecognizable with a plural ending stuck...
