Re: SeN: "Hope for immortality" is a Useful Salve for Childhood "rape and strangulation."

Already done, at least hormonally. Yes, actually I heard this conclusion years ago from a friend who worked for a big drug company selling contraceptive pills. There's no real reason to keep bleeding each month; you can just stay on the pill and it doesn't cause any problems. In fact what I remembe...

Re: SeN: "Hope for immortality" is a Useful Salve for Childhood "rape and strangulation."

I am very slowly working on a far-future sci-fi novel with a female protagonist. I thought about what changes to human biology might have been made by the far future and what occurred to me first was, let's get rid of menstruation. As a male author it was something I didn't want to have to think abo...

The problem with TikTok apologetics is that it isn't competing with blog and book apologetics. It's competing with the rest of TikTok and the rest of TikTok has the unbeatable advantage of not having to sell a religion.

Re: A big hello

For some refreshingly candid wisdom I am inspired to quote another Bob-figure of uncertain identity. I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to. As one of his apparent followers put it, Moses parted the Red Sea, Oppenheimer split the atom, but "Bob" cut the cr...

Re: Witnesses Trailer a Triumph

They really have someone in the film saying that the original plates were just a prop? Isn't that kind of like blowing a hole in the bottom of your ship just as you set sail? Nothing they can show in the film can possibly be inconsistent with the plates having been a prop ... because the plates in t...

Re: A big hello

Some posters here can be harsh but I don't think of Philo Sofee as especially so. Perhaps I just don't notice. Telling another person, "You need to be a better person" is a little arrogant in my book, though, Bob. Who made you the judge? Is this really a Mormon thing after all, priesthood holders re...

Re: Radical Incoherence

Well, most men have bound their eyes with one or another handkerchief, and attached themselves to some one of these communities of opinion. This conformity makes them not false in a few particulars, authors of a few lies, but false in all particulars. Their every truth is not quite true. Their two ...

I'm not sure Carmack understands how telling this statement of his is:
It's at a point where easier ones to track have been determined to be persistent....
Yeah, Carmack needs a cue from the prompter. "Your next line is, 'Wait.'"
