Re: Apostle Predictions

Apostle 1 will be a white man, with either a professional or business background. He will have been born in the American Morridor—I say American to specifically exclude Alberta, CA. Apostle 2 will be a white man, with either a professional or business background. He will have been born in the US ea...

Re: President Monson has died

Well I always enjoyed Monson's talks growing up. He was a good speaker, told good stories and so on though most the storied aggrandize his own service to others. I recall as I gew older it seemed boastful and not in the spirit of what the New Testament thought about service. The Church;s hard-line s...

Re: Church takes Trump University idea and runs with it...

IHAQ, If operated as advertised, and depending on course content and caliber of the instructors, this could be a real, and much needed, contribution in my opinion - especially outside the US. There are lots of immigrant or ESL kids here in Florida who take high school and entry level college course...

Catching Up

Hello all. And especially hello to many here who I know well. I have been more of a lurker for quite some time. I still post some on the Mormon Dialogue site as Teancum. But even there less and less. For me there are still lots of questions. I view myself as a skeptical seeker of truth but wonder if...

Re: Is Mormonism an example of harmful Religious Addiction?

So really this is the issue.

Yes there are lots of things humans can do that are bad and can end up in addictions.

But the LDS Church creates addictions where none exist.

And the LDS church wants its members to be addicted to the Church but that is just quote fine, well and good.

Re: Is Mormonism an example of harmful Religious Addiction?

As most know the LDS Church has an addiction recovery program. I have sat through orientation meetings for ward members on this program. I have read the book they use. It is bases on AAA's 12 step program with modifications for LDS "gospel" views. The program is not bad. I am sure it can ...
