Re: 2017 Statistical Report For 2018 April Conference

Mature process meaning it has been going for a long time and reached a state where wild swings in the data are no longer the pattern. That would make sense if the process" had remained constant. Say for instance I have the same group of ten salesmen working the same general area using the same...

Re: 2017 Statistical Report For 2018 April Conference

Strange in what way? Strange like they're doctored? No. I think it represents a typical pattern for growth in a mature process where there is not a lot of variation. Strange as in, abnormal. What do you mean by "mature process?" Are you saying that the church has reached a threshold of ma...

Re: 2017 Statistical Report For 2018 April Conference

I did the charts. That's my site. You don't need to draw a line in ppt, the math is there. And you're right. The slope of membership (the bars) is not the green line % change, it's raw change. Here are the numbers. It may seem linear because the variation is small, compared to the size of the bars....

Re: 2017 Statistical Report For 2018 April Conference

I don't understand what you're saying. Growth is not linear. ... The green line is the growth (slope of the bar charts trend) and it's not constant. The jagged green line is not the slope. It's the Year-Over-Year percentage increase, or as the legend on the graph itself states, "YOY Growth %&q...

Re: 2017 Statistical Report For 2018 April Conference

Good analysis with graphs. I like graphs, and from these ones something very odd strikes me. Over nearly 30 years the growth in total numbers is linear. You can draw a single straight line that goes almost exactly through the tops of all the bars in the total numbers graph. This is really weird. Th...

Re: Question for Consig-Radio Free Mormon

This is not the first time the question has been raised as to whether RFM is a Snufferite. Over at Ex-Mormon Reddit, I have seen some say they are just waiting for the other shoe to drop. They will be waiting a long time, I fear. I know that there are some LDS who have grown disillusioned with curr...

Re: Question for Consig-Radio Free Mormon

The way I have come to formulate it is this: If Joseph Smith wasn't a prophet, the current leaders aren't prophets. And if Joseph Smith was a prophet, the current leaders sure as hell aren't prophets. I think the distinction is important. And there are more options. Joseph was a prophet by a certai...

Re: Question for Consig-Radio Free Mormon

No offense, but this is a pretty dumb OP. Ok, so fundamentalists also agree that the church doesn't follow its own rules. So what? These things are unrelated. Consig is either correct about the rules, as laid out in the D&C, or he's not. I'm kind of an LDS apologist in my own way, but I'm not i...

Re: Question for Consig-Radio Free Mormon

But here’s the thing, the LDS Church (from a believer point of view) only exists because of supernatural events. If you don’t believe in supernatural events you de facto cannot believe in the LDS Church. You might like the church, enjoy the church, agree with some facets of the church etc. But beli...

Re: Question for Consig-Radio Free Mormon

I have a question wrote:I’m slightly confused as to how someone can be both a believing LDS yet not believe in the supernatural, as the LDS Church is born from claimed supernatural events?

Yeah, I know it's confusing. But some people do it.
