Re: Latest Survey Ranking U.S. Presidents
I have extreme doubt, though, that future historians will ever rate Trump highly. He is surely destined to be ranked as one of the most corrupt, dishonest and bigoted Presidents as long as there still exist honest, well-informed historians. I predict, if anything, that disdain for him and what he d...

Re: Latest Survey Ranking U.S. Presidents
Interesting take, Shades. I wonder why you put the word accurate in scare quotes. Because criteria that might make a former president look good to one person might be the very same criteria that makes a former president look bad to another. Hence why it’s no more possible to make an “accurate” list...

It does indeed.Physics Guy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 6:04 pmAt this point I think my point stands that Harris's shot was a cheapish one, if you think about the issue seriously.

Re: Latest Survey Ranking U.S. Presidents
I wouldn't put much stock into any of this. Rankings may be fine for presidents who served during living memory, but for ones before that? I doubt an assessment can be made that's anywhere near "accurate." Interesting take, Shades. I wonder why you put the word accurate in scare quotes. Anyway, if ...

Re: 2024 Election Campaign Megathread
The fact that you had to google Navalny is a testament to something. I don’t know what that something is. But it’s something, that’s for sure. It’s a testament to the fact that I don’t follow Russian politics. Shades: I'm guessing, that while reading Jersey's music thread, you had to google 'the Be...

Re: Science is wrong sometimes, therefore anything is possible
I get your analogy, Physics Guy, but it's a little flawed. In order to reduce costs, plastic has been tried as a component in things like power tools, only to be replaced by steel. I traded my plastic water bottle for a steel one over concerns about plastic pollution. The move away from plastic to s...

Re: It’s a Jubilee!
I had to stop watching when, as you both mentioned, after around the 10 minute mark, Cardon fake-tears-up, says he has leukemia, and is going to die 20 years earlier than he would otherwise. He then suggests he would trade that lost 20 years for some gayness. That was so bad that it didn't even ris...
