Re: Biden's Economy?
Yes, I see and understand your point there, but as you already implied, this underscores the hypocrisy of the Right in blaming the government for rising prices while opposing the very measures and regulations that could mitigate the rising cost of those things you mentioned. The right had no say at...

Re: Biden's Economy?
It's both remarkable and depressing how 62% of people polled still think Biden is doing a poor job on the economy despite the good current statistics like high growth rate, low unemployment rate, decreasing fuel prices, slowing inflation rate, high job creation, increasing consumer confidence, etc....

Re: 2024 Election Campaign Megathread
Ironically, I was pointed to this TED talk from a video that popped up in my YouTube recommendations from a survival channel. https://youtu.be/Yilgr2SJ3xQ?si=bW3TvfVg2NqSoAxg The topic is what factors predict political unrest and, notably, who is typically behind civil wars when they break out. It's...

Re: Interpreter tries to fix one of their sharpshooter fallacies
The premise of the article is defined here: When discussing the relationship between archaeological discoveries and written sources, archaeologist William G. Dever explained that “convergences” are “points at which the two lines of evidence, when pursued independently and as objectively as possible,...

Re: Interpreter tries to fix one of their sharpshooter fallacies
I didn't know this before but the abstract for the Nahom piece now makes me smile. Abstract: For decades, several Latter-day Saint scholars have maintained that there is a convergence between the location of Nahom in the Book of Mormon and the Nihm region of Yemen. To establish whether there really ...

Re: He was a sign of his times.
My barber recently retired. He had lots of stories. One was that due to a rabbit population being out of control, and eating the crops how he and his friends brought their .22 rifles to school in the morning and a put them in their locker. At lunch they went hunting. This was early 1970s. Perhaps h...

Re: Interpreter tries to fix one of their sharpshooter fallacies
Make it the three from the current issue about Book of Mormon names, Hamites in the Book of Abraham, and NHM, then? I'm not trying to cherry pick here. I haven't opened two of them and only skimmed the NHM article. Call it an experiment. Can an article in the Interpreter avoid the TSSF while attemp...

Re: Interpreter tries to fix one of their sharpshooter fallacies
I was rather hoping we could talk about a few specific articles instead of “uh…well…just all of them, duh!” Make it the three from the current issue about Book of Mormon names, Hamites in the Book of Abraham, and NHM, then? I'm not trying to cherry pick here. I haven't opened two of them and only s...
