Re: Authentic Gold Plates found in Java
While these particular plates may have been somewhat similar to Chinese Mah-jongg tiles or even the message from fortune cookies fit for an emperor, it does not negate the possibility that ancient Israelites may have used a close proximity for encoding information with Adamic or Reformed Egyptian a...

Re: Mormons BE PREPARED FOR TRIBULATIONS
President Smith must have thought that Obama, the result of a black man and a white woman, looked like a Greek or a Middle Easterner. Understandable, in addition, there was institutionalized racism against blacks and having a black president at the time was unthinkable. That's some amazing propheti...

Re: Magick Wins: History, Tropes, and the Heavenly council
That being said, one might propose two theories: (1) This is just the apologists creating their own Book of Mormon, just as you surmised.... There will always be new Books of Mormon. It will be in Italy. It will be in other dimensions. It will take place in Late Antiquity. Or it will be written by ...

In my opinion this is the most interesting. Idea being that the Book of Mormon is old world fiction that imitates Judeo-Christian texts about the isles of the sea. Its come a long way since that Sunstone presentation.

And ad-hominem attacks, rather than engagement of the information addressed. Limhi's Party Takes the Wrong River The claim is that, even though only one river is ever mentioned in the Book of Mormon, Limhi's Party somehow missed Zarahemla because they "followed the wrong river" north. But...

That "81 Evidences" in fact refers to 81 Points the Book of Mormon mentions of Lehi's Journey through the Wilderness that has been demonstrated as true, something utterly impossible for Joseph or really anyone to have know even close to that detail and accuracy. m I followed the link look...

Re: John Dee and the Foundations of Mormonism
Reverend, I recall recently reading online speculation that Dr. Dee may have been involved in the creation, or at least the provenance, of the Voynich manuscript and the Book of Soyga. One wonders how many books and ideas of Christian Kaballah might have been within Joseph's reach. He may have abso...

Re: John Dee and the Foundations of Mormonism
Kircher's ideas about the hierophantic mystical nature of hieroglyphs was still alive at BYU in the last decade and I would not be surprised if that were true even today. Th Ibn Nephi stuff I am dying to know more about. Rabbi Nephi had the universal translation key or code key. These are surely di...

Re: The Diaries of Oliver Cowdery
Yeah I question anything claimed by Hofmann...and even in '84 he was spinning his web...so it could have been part of his over all plan to plant this false seed and then produce a forgery of Cowdery's papers at some time in the future... And on the other hand if such a document did exist...I can't ...

Re: John Dee and the Foundations of Mormonism
Returning to Kircher, our pioneering Egyptologist, and his mysterious Nephite text. “At one point, in a discussion about the origins of writing, Leon invoked the authority of “the Hebrew Aben Nephi” who had agreed with Arab authors for whom Enoch, called Idris in Arabic, had been the first writer.
