Re: Infer, Imply, Affect, Effect - Those Terms.

Don’t do unto others that you don’t want done unto you. Writers of the New Testament wrote that Jesus made that statement. I acknowledge it. Well, kind of but it wasn't exactly a don't do. It was more of a proactive positive statement. It's here: Matthew 7:12 KJV Therefore all things whatsoever ye ...

Thanks Schmo.

Re: Infer, Imply, Affect, Effect - Those Terms.

Not really sure what your statistics has to do with using those words. I think the problem is that people confuse the words and don't necessarily know what they mean but just use them because they are used to hearing them in a particular context. To me imply is like hinting. To suggest something bu...

Re: I am amazed at the change.

Children, especially young ones, are often selfish, impatient, and inconsiderate. It's not really their fault that they're that way. They don't know any better. They feel their own desires and injuries strongly, and don't really understand that other people have needs and feelings as well. So I gue...

Infer, Imply, Affect, Effect - Those Terms.

Infer or imply, effect or affect these words I tend not to use them when speaking. One time after being graduated from our local university and in my small space of hubris, I thought I would use these terms while speaking and used the word infer and my good friend at work S. said you mean imply. It ...

Re: Vaticinium ex eventu

The Disciples at that time never fulfilled the role of Board of Directors since they were involved with religion rather than religion acting as a front for a multi-billion dollar business. Well.... they were in the industry of fishing for men... they probably learning you can tune a guitar, but you...

Re: I am amazed at the change.

Mr. Skinner's article is interesting: He cites hematidrosis which is a term used by the medical profession. So that means ordinary humans experience this. He also cites hypovolemia which humans also experience. The LDS church wants you to know only one person, Jesus Christ whose father was a God and...

Re: I am amazed at the change.

Thanks to all, Huckleberry, Pirate, and Jersey Girl. I think Jesus was afraid, very afraid, of being executed via crucifixion. That's why he was praying. No one wants to die that way but that's the way it was done to certain people in that time. I think the drops of blood were similes. The authors u...

Re: I am amazed at the change.

I find myself responding to Yellowstone’s post in a way that does not fit the first thread so I will try a separate thread. I may have tried to ask this question before but perhaps failed to clarify what I was wondering about. My memory of church in the 1960s includes no memory of contacting a bish...
