Re: Fictitious Priesthood Ordination Ages of the Patriarchs NOW Exposed!
I read quite a bit of this thread, although I haven’t fully digested the proposed methodology. Clearly you can see that the ages Smith used for priesthood ordination don’t follow a consistent methodology and one number suddenly is better than another number for no reason at all. From what I see in ...

Re: Mormonism Live on Free Will
I tried but I'm afraid it seemed a bit long. Can you condense the main ideas to a few sentences? I can’t really condense my post, unfortunately, without losing a lot of context, but I can still talk with you about your ideas. When or if you find time to read it, I’d be interested in your thoughts, ...

Re: Mormonism Live on Free Will
The problem with immaterial soul/mind/consciousness/will/whatever is that at some point it has to move atoms. For instance, in eyebrows. I can choose to raise an eyebrow. That's some atoms moving. The brain is in the picture for certain. It's not just cooling the blood. The electrochemical pulses t...

Re: Mormonism Live on Free Will
Just to clarify. My understanding of the physicalism worldview; The universe consists only of billiard balls and forces. On a standard billiards table, the cue ball hits the rack, the balls scatter and go an their paths according to the laws of physics. There is no deviation. It is precise and coul...

Re: Fictitious Priesthood Ordination Ages of the Patriarchs NOW Exposed!
I read quite a bit of this thread, although I haven’t fully digested the proposed methodology. On the question of lifespan, some scientists today think we’ve misunderstood the aging process. Harvard Professor David Sinclair recently wrote a book called “Lifespan,” subtitled, “why we age and why we d...

Re: For Ryan Larsen on Tim Barker's FAIR 2020 BofAbr Presentation
Nice link in your meditations Ryan! Mucho appreciate that! Barker intrigues me to no end!!! Fun stuff! I just wish he along with all the other Mormon apologists would stop misrepresenting and manipulating Henry Caswell's testimony which at this point is just purely deceptive on their parts. I shall...

Re: The Quincy Account
Interesting, thank you. It doesn’t strike me as a word Joseph Smith would usually use. In the link to my blog, in the OP, I break down the 1828 Websters definitions (not in the Quincy part of the post, but further down). You are very welcome. I wish I could be more involved in this conversation, bu...

Re: The Quincy Account
For whatever it may be worth in the conversation, in a search of BOAP's Early Saints archive of journals, the word "Autograph" appears only once. It is from Josiah Quincy. BYU's missionary journal archive turns up 16 journals with the word. I didn't search through all of them to see how it was used...

Re: The Quincy Account
The Webster 1828 Dictionary is not functioning at this time. I seem to recall the words signature and autograph have pretty much the same meaning then as it does today in modern times. Wikipedia provides excellent definitions for both words to include their historical and root meanings as well as t...
