Re: Examining the Coffee Doctrine
This topic really interests me. Initially the doctrine is clear and unambiguous. "And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly." (D&C 89:9) But then modern day leaders muddied the waters. "Tea and coffee (see Doctrine and Covenants 89:9; latter-day prophets have taught that the term “hot drin...

Midgley's family refusing to publish his self authored obituary
Since I have had, shortly after the passing of my wife in 3 February 2014, a very affectionate, but also very demanding, Dachshunt companion, who is now closing in on fifteen years, the comments on Ritner's pet dog have drawn my attention to the question of what will happen to my little friend, if ...

Re: Informed Consent
My view is that John Dehlin’s informed consent is just a slogan for the catch-22. Inform too much, people will not join. Inform too little, people will eventually find out and leave. The way John captures this fundamental product problem is “informed consent.” I think there is a specific part of me...

Re: Church discontinues Saturday Evening Conference Sessions
Still, why a two step process? Would it have been too difficult to just say ‘we are no longer dividing meetings by gender, all are welcome to Saturday evening conference sessions’? Because they've reversed the original decision. It's a flip flop because something happened after the initial announce...

Re: Church discontinues Saturday Evening Conference Sessions
Reverse course Russel at it again. Saturday evening session is back on. It is amazing how badly god has gotten it when Nelson is talking for him (re: November policy is revelation, but then rescinded) Saturday evening session of conference was cancelled for roughly 50 days and no conference actuall...

Re: Ritner passes-Sad!
Peterson I learned today that Robert Ritner, an Egyptologist at the University of Chicago and formerly at Yale University, has died after a lengthy illness. He had become a popular figure among critics of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for his willingness to criticize faithful Latte...

Re: Ritner passes-Sad!
John Gee I just learned that Robert Kriech Ritner, Jr. passed away yesterday. Professor Ritner served as my dissertation advisor until Yale University removed him from the position . An official obituary has been posted. This is very sad. http://fornspollfira.blogspot.com/2021/07/robert-kreich-ritne...

Re: Sam LeFevre claims Priesthood cured paralysis, healed burned skin and more...
For the record, I know of burns being healed, sick babies being cured, paralysed people regaining function, winds dying down, and people coming out of comas, all WITHOUT the use of priesthood power. How is that even possible Sam? I'd also be interested in Sam's explanation for those occurrences whe...

Re: WITNESSES CRASHES AND BURNS!
One of the biggest issues with this movie is that it lacked clear objectives from the outset. Even now the Exec. Co. Prod. cannot really state any clear, tangible, goals or objectives that could have really driven the production and distribution work streams. Was it about making money? Was it about ...

LDS Church to pay back $2.4 million of donations in fraud case
Hafen, the receiver, said he was able to trace $2.4 million that Rust gave to the LDS Church in tithing and other donations that came directly from the money he collected in his alleged scheme. According to state and federal law, any money that was collected through illegal means, and then donated,...
