How would paying for distribution rights to independently-produced content be viewed as a bailout?

Common consent middle finger?
Nelson was set apart before churchwide sustaining as president. People looked the other way because, hey, he’d already been sustained as PSR and all. It was established procedure. But now they’re calling and ordaining apostles before churchwide sustaining? Common consent, meet Nelson’s middle finger.

Russell M. Nelson: Time Mag Person of the Year
Not. It’s Taylor “Fu*k the Patriarchy” Swift, a talented artist who has done more to help women and girls feel validated, seen and powerful than all Mormon leaders combined. A very deserving honor indeed. Whether you are a fan of her music or not, it’s hard to argue her impact. https://time.com/6342...

Re: The Top Ten Happenings in Mopologetics, 2023n
Wonderful, as always, Doctor. Your stamina in research and writing are inspiring to so many of the rising faculty. While some may aspire to administrative roles and a few are intoxicated with lucrative 1 day per week consulting gigs, you remind the Cassius staff that the greatest prizes are obtained...

Re: Recordings show church fixers offering victims money to cover up abuse
This is surely a damning ongoing scandal. But defenders will point out that in the ID case, the church may have done all it could and appears even to have been generous with the settlement as a sort of consolation prize, given state law on clergy-penitent privilege. The abuse happened 20 years prior...

Re: ‘A slap in the face’: LDS Relief Society leaders ordered off the stand
Highly recommend this article, which outlines a compelling common thread between women being ordered off the stand in sacrament meeting and csa coverups. The problem, at the root, is cowardly local leaders refusing to stand up to senior leaders when asked to do things which are harmful or wrong, or ...

Re: Jeffrey Holland Was Right After All: The Church Gets Hundreds Of New Wards And Stakes
Reducing the minimum size of stakes means a far lower threshold in emerging countries. As a result, not only will more converts see stakes established (in itself sign of growth), but many more will be called to stake callings, high councils, bishops promoted to stake presidents. All the work and cha...

Re: ‘A slap in the face’: LDS Relief Society leaders ordered off the stand
I’ve also heard that there was no GA-supplied letter for bishops to read to congregations. Rather, it was a top down order through stake presidents that each bishopric should prepare their own message and deliver it on the same Sunday. Cowardly area leadership. Reports from one ward, where a friend ...

Re: Mothers in Zion - why they're leaving
SLTribune this morning. The church is losing its best women because, ultimately, its leaders don’t see them and don’t want to have to listen to them. https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2023/11/24/slap-face-lds-relief-society/ I caught up with my wife’s friends over the weekend about all of this. Their...
