Re: Shameful MDD thread
I guess, when I look at the discussion of Sandy here http://www.mormondiscussions.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=26745 I don't see much difference in the tone. Seems to me there was a notable absence of compassion for victims here, as well. That's why I say: just humans doing what humans do. by ...

Re: Reading Robert M. Price "Deconstructing Jesus"
Thanks for the link lulu! And to everyone who responded. Bayes Theory sounds potentially helpful in theory, but the few examples I've read sound a little like handwaving. I'll admit, the big, nasty equations have scared me off so far, but maybe braving them will be worth it.

Zakuska opened a thread so posters could complain about each other.
You're way too deep into horses are tapirs territory for me.
Be safe.
Thanks. You too.

Re: Shameful MDD thread
I disagree. The thread was about how callous, and horrible, and disgusting, and sickening the posters in the thread were. The statement "God will punish the wicked" is not equivalent to saying "Every person who dies is an example of god punishing the wicked" or "Hurricane Sa...

Re: Shameful MDD thread
I really have no idea what the fire and brimstone comment was about. Yeah, that one is a puzzler, I don't know, maybe something about Zakuska thinking God will justly destroy the wicked? lulu - from the disaster zone Well, it's clear Z believes that. But a hurricane is not fire and brimstone, and Z...

Re: LDS Artist Reveals Newest Painting, 'Runaway Slave' | Hu
Interesting that a slave should throw off his shackles in front of the Washington Monument which wasn't completed until 1884. Hmm. If I understand the painting correctly, it's saying that blacks have been kept as slaves in modern times by the ebil government, and the subject of the painting is lead...

Re: Shameful MDD thread
lulu, I see your point, but to get there you had to (1) ignore stuff Z actually posted in the thread and (2) insert and highlight stuff Z didn't post to the thread. Here's the OP: This one kind of has me scratching my head and praying for all those who find themselves in the path of this perfect sto...

Not all Mormons even watch the Fox News Channel, let alone follow Ann Coulter.
News Flash: Even Satan doesn't claim Coulter. Fox, on the other hand....

You have to sign up for the e-list. I get mine delivered to my in-box every morning. Not first thing, mind you. The boss likes to sleep in.

Re: Shameful MDD thread
Maybe I'm just getting jaded in my old age, but I finally got around to reading the thread, and didn't think it was shameful. It was, well, what humans do when disasters happen. Ever since the LDS church was founded, Mormons have believed that Christ's return is imminent. (Except Packer throwing on ...
