Re: If Trump WAS Sent by God...

Depends on what you mean by absolute truth
You should stick with that, and insist on a definition of absolute truth that doesn't trivially circle back to "God".

When most people say "absolute truth" they have no idea what they are talking about.

Re: Kirton McConkie's Randy Austin called as Area Seventy

I dropped into the local chapel for the first session of general conference and manifested my opposition. Philosophical question: if an opposing vote is made in an empty chapel and no one is around to see it, is it recorded in Salt Lake City? Funny you should bring that up, Tom, as I have a similar...

Re: The High Spy MEGATHREAD

There may be a few mathematicians and computer programmers who disagree with that, Dr. Shades.

Although I admit I've never heard of a "word tuple".

Thinking in Python here, I would want to understand how a "word tuple" differs from a "word list", a "word set", and a "word dictionary".

Re: Collaboration Between Artist and Audience

I'm hopeful the reverend will stop by and share his thoughts. Some of the somewhat difficult uses of God that comes to mind in ancient contexts include Plato telling us Socrates referred to God and gods in different ways. Many Socratic writings reference God and gods in ways that suggest the former...

IWP, do you have a mortgage on your flat? Do you drive an automobile? In 2020 prior to suffering the consequences of printing trillions of dollars, a young family could purchase their first home comortably if they earned at least $75k. After four years of Bidenomics, you need to at least earn $110k...

astroturfed pseudo-popular organizing?—strikes me as convenient, and, frankly, much less impactful than the spontaneous anger Yep. Great point. You'd think there'd be some legit alt-right counter anger out there, but this doesn't have that authentic feel, does it? will be interesting to see how lon...

Re: DCP conflates humanitarian aid with church welfare

There is no use case for the money and Dan knows it. That's why he's fallen back to the argument that contra Joseph F. Smith, it's an ironclad law that members pay 10% no matter what. If the church took the money and burned it straightaway, they'd still have to pay because it's an irrevocable law of...

Re: FAIR Partners with the Valiant Conference: Has a New Mopologetic Organization Emerged?

I can't help but wonder, too, about what seems like a rather awkward partnership between Valiant Conference and FAIR Given Juliann's recent comments, this could be awkward. I can't make heads or tails of the site either, but it's suspicious that these are Mormon women advocating for the status quo,...

Re: FAIR Board Member and Mopologist, Juliann Reynolds Is Openly Criticizing The Church's Treatment Of LGTBQ Members

a blog wrote:I hope that people out there are not so confused as to be unable to decide which holiday they should celebrate tomorrow: “Biden Proclaims Easter Sunday ‘Transgender Day of Visibility’”
I wonder if this blog proprietor had seen Juliann's comments and is calling her out?

Re: FAIR Board Member and Mopologist, Juliann Reynolds Is Openly Criticizing The Church's Treatment Of LGTBQ Members

That's actually not surprising at all. What was surprising was that back in the Z days, she was oblivious to the fact that FARMS was a bunch of reactionary, right-wing nutjobs that had nothing to do with the liberal values that she mistakenly thought made the backbone of the Church. Man, she was so ...
