Re: Stake Conference

Why not just call two (or more if needed) Bishops per Ward. One that works exclusively with the youth and one that works with the adults. They don't pay them, right? So what does it matter? If you have hundreds of students going to a school, you don't just have one teacher. And by all means have tea...

Hey Huc, Thanks for the bit about St. Helens. I was living in Oregon at the time and was flying in (returning) from my mission right after it blew and we had a unique view of the devastation at that time. (As I recall about two weeks after it blew). As I read Smith's account it is nothing like a vol...

Re: Joseph Smith, volcanoes, and being “less inclined to stu

The word "volcano" never occurs in the Book of Mormon. So Peterson claiming that Smith attributed all this to a volcano is simply, fantastically disingenuous. That's not what the text says at all: CHAPTER IV. And now it came to pass that according to our record, and we know our record to b...

Re: Joseph Smith, volcanoes, and being “less inclined to stu

People knew there was a problem in 1816, it was VERY widespread: The weather in 1816 was sure different. Spring had arrived as usual, but cold weather would not subside. Re: 2nd Volume Of Saints - Prophets are blinded by the momen

They (the church hierarchy, etc.) were not "blinded by the moment". It was an ongoing hatred that grew out of Smith's obsession with Zion being located in Jackson County, Missouri. He claims this is so in 1831 and sends people there to "inherit" it. He claims in 1833 that the U.S...

Re: ? For grindael - Did O.C. Know Josiah Priest Before J.S.

And I found this (From Dale) about a possible Cowdery connection.. m Vol. V. Lyons, N. Y., Wednesday, August 30, 1826. No. ? A Pickle for the Book Venders. -- There was considerable stir last week, about our neighborhood among the justices, constables, and lawyers, in consequence of a great number o...

Is grindael getting under DCP's skin over there on his blog?

I don't post at SEN. And I haven't written anything about Peterson (on my blog) since the end of the Maxwell Institute.
