Re: $30k challenge to Interpreter’s “Team Bayes”
I think they are using at least a subset of math and science called "religious math and science." It's just like regular math and science except shrouded in an overpowering desire to believe a certain conclusion. So, mathematical formulas and the scientific method are eternally skewed in favor of th...

Re: Who 'Railroaded' John Tvedtnes and His Research?
Philo sophee is nice and self-deprecating to a fault. I don't think there is a nasty bone in his body. Kerry's nasty and spiteful reinvention of those with whom he was once happy to associate both puzzles and saddens me, and I won't permit it to infect this place. Wrong, wrong, wrong. The "satan tur...

Re: Team Bayes Of Interpreter Foundation FIRST Installment of Evidences for Book of Mormon
Oliver Cowdery was a school teacher. David Whitmer, by all metrics, was a competent human being. Again, the narrative that Joseph Smith did this all by himself, especially with the false 90-day timeline, is just sheer fantasy. - Doc Here is something you might like. John Smith, professor of Dartmou...

Re: Carmack takes on the Late War
There are linguists who study the Appalachian dialect that included Palmyra and they say it could be close to Elizabethian or Early Modern English. https://daily.jstor.org/the-legendary-language-of-the-appalachian-holler/ This is such an important point. As a journalist, I have had to decipher diff...

Re: Team Bayes Of Interpreter Foundation FIRST Installment of Evidences for Book of Mormon
Regarding "length": But it shows how it would be reasonable for someone to pick up the Book of Mormon and get the sense that they should take it seriously. It sets the first block in a foundation of reasoned skepticism—not skepticism of the church’s truth claims (there’s plenty of that to go around...

Re: Gemli, and attacking those who make sense.
I think we are seeing some cognitive dissonance pains. Ideeho is a little too aggressive here, a little too frustrated. Perhaps Ideeho needs to rethink his assumptions. Perhaps it doesn't withstand scrutiny? Perhaps Gemli's points are worthy because Mormonism isn't?

Re: $30k challenge to Interpreter’s “Team Bayes”
I think the terms should be changed Dr. Moore, if I am right in what Dr. Scratch is going to propose. Let's see what KR will do. He can do whatever he wants with what he gets from the challenge, but I like having the incentives increased to see what our hero will do in this morality play. Will he do...

Re: $30k challenge to Interpreter’s “Team Bayes”
How long before claimed "bias" is used as an excuse for failure to account for valid criticism? Team bayes are probably conscious of this excuse at all times as it is the only response. The Dales were pretty quick to accuse the "haters" with bias. I'm sure KR will do the same thing as time goes on. ...
