Re: "Being godless might be good for your health - study shows

That’s not to say, at all, that as individuals can’t be happy here and there. But they tend more towards social isolation , more so than religionists. I'm looking for your supporting evidence on this claim . Still waiting... I think that it is more likely that a person who has no belief in God tend...

Re: Uchtdorf violates Church policy on political neutrality

A separate point on this from a commenter on the Trib article... There is a legal problem here: Elder Uchtdorf just stated that one of his family members made multiple campaign donations in his name. That is called a straw donor, and is illegal under 52 U.S.C. § 30122: "No person shall make a contri...

Re: A new leadership role for women, but not in North America

I doubt this is about anything progressive. I'm guessing this is simply the reality of the fact that there isn't enough priesthood holders to fill leadership positions. The disparity in male/female active membership amongst the Mormons is one of the highest. In fact, I think only Jehovah's Witnesse...

Re: Uchtdorf violates Church policy on political neutrality

Here's what happened: The FEC’s website reports 11 donations over a four-and-a-half-month span for a total of $2,086.67 to three candidates, a political action committee and the Democratic National Committee. The Deseret News initially reported an additional two donations for another $200, but an FE...

Re: The Church stands to gain hundreds of millions of dollars from the US Covid relief package

[Back to the point about the Church's priority. You seem then to conclude making money is a high priority for the Church, which all evidence suggests, but you say, though it's clearly a very high priority for the conglomerate corporation that is the Church, the Church doesn't quite put the need to ...

Uchtdorf violates Church policy on political neutrality

Despite LDS Church rules against top leaders contributing to political candidates, federal campaign reports indicated that popular Latter-day Saint apostle Dieter Uchtdorf made 13 donations last year and early in 2021, totaling nearly $2,300, to Democratic Party funds and candidates, including Joe ...

A new leadership role for women, but not in North America

A new position added to the organisational structure of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Europe calls upon women to mentor congregational officers and participate in leadership councils. Ann-Mari Lindberg, Sibylle Fingerle, Letícia dos Santos Rudloff, Ghislaine Simonet, Julia Wond...
