Re: I predict J. Bishop will not be excommunicated until...
He likely confessed in Utah, which allows the Church to keep quiet on the matter, and then resigned to avoid a church court. It doesn't take any courage to do that type of thing. I don't think the Church would allow someone to resign, not confess and then be re baptized without knowing the full issu...

Re: MormonLeaks submitted GRAMA request to BYUPD and were de
MormonLeaks wants the audio of the Detectives interview with Bishop. Will they get it, who knows. But the contents of that interview will be known in time, especially by McKenna Denson and her attorney. Her attorney can subpoena the Detectives who did the interview and their notes, and question them...

Re: Mormon Historian Leonard Arrington’s Battle For The Trut
In fairness this quote seems to be reported (in print) by Michael Quinn as something Packer said to him in a private conversation once. It's not a statement published by Packer himself or attested by anyone except Quinn. I myself don't doubt Quinn's substantial accuracy. The quote sounds to me like...

Re: Runtu's Insights Into The MTC in 1984
I was in the MTC in mid September 1980, two weeks after my 19th birthday. J. Christensen was the MTC president. I definitely still remember somethings he said on Sunday nights which seemed extremely patronizing to me. I can't remember his exact words but one time he said that if you were a hard work...

Re: BYU and Public Information Requests
If BYU police handles crimes which can be prosecuted by the City of Provo or the State then they are a public entity and should be subject to the same rules as the Provo Police Dept, But if the Provo Police Dept handles the crimes on the BYU campus then the BYU police are just security guards. In Ca...

I can see them now in the villa listening to Zeppelin, Heart, Kansas, Boston, Journey, and the trailing end of Baby-boomers generated music, Metallica and the Bangles.

Re: What is the "bitter cup" in Christianity?
I think it's just appearing little by little, line upon line to me. I think he took a lot of terms like infinite atonement from Calvinist and Quakers and Anabaptist. Those terms may not be used in today's protestant sermons by were likely used by preachers in Europe and America. Alexander Campbell ...

Re: What is the "bitter cup" in Christianity?
Now, for me, when I look at writings of Joseph Smith I believe his thoughts were created from reviewing centuries of religious writings. . . any thoughts? Yes: "You're just now noticing this?" I think it's just appearing little by little, line upon line to me. I think he took a lot of ter...

What is the "bitter cup" in Christianity?
On another thread a reference was given to D&C section 19 and the atonement. 18 Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink— In...
