Here's a video short of the cow syringe!
Yyyikes. That’s approaching the size of a grease gun. o_O
Big honking syringe isn't it? I get 30 mgs, can't really see how much they used in the video. Finding that video led to me binge watching people go "out" under propofol and wondering if my eyes ever stayed open.

When I was in grad school, in the early 1990s, I was part of a cool interdisciplinary group of grad students who were interested in "mind-brain" issues. There were psychologists and philosophers and computer scientists, and a couple of physicists just because they had no actual criteria for membership. One time we had an invited talk from an anaesthesiologist. The main thing I remember from the talk is the frank admission that nobody knew what anaesthesia actually was. Everyone knows that it "knocks you out", but you imagine that the doctors know more than that. Nope.

At least, not then. But I doubt they know any more now.

I've heard that before too. I've also heard that it's not that you aren't experiencing anything it's that you don't remember experiencing anything.

When they put my son under GA they told me he was asleep, he wasn't asleep he was fighting. Like grabbing to survive. Was awful.

Definitely could be, as far as I know. If the result is good, I’m inclined to look at it favorably, but if someone says it was hard, I’d believe them.

I've never had a bad experience with propofol. Don't remember anything but I tend to think the brain/body remembers the trauma of electrical cardioversion. There was one time I stopped breathing and the Boy said he could hear them shouting at me. Jersey can you hear me? and yelling my name. I heard none of that. They bagged me until I started breathing on my own.

They have me too high a dose of propofol. That's why I read through ALL of the information on discharge papers and know that 30mgs is the exact right dose for me.

It'd be nice of more providers noticed the size of the patient including height and body weight. They have all that information on the intake record...no one refers it. Such simple things can get overlooked in the ER and common sense isn't always on the menu.

That must have been scary.
