THISandThat

Post by Elizabeth »

"Home from the Sea"

On a cold winter's night, with a storm at its height
The lifeboat answered the call
They pitched and they tossed, 'til we thought they were lost
As we watched from the harbor wall

Though the night was pitch black, there was no turning back
For someone was waiting out there
And each volunteer had to live with his fear
As they joined in a silent prayer

Carry us home, home, home from the sea
Angels of mercy, answer our plea
And carry us home, home, home from the sea
Carry us safely home from the sea

As they battled their way past the mouth of the bay
It was blowing like never before
As they gallantly fought, every one of them thought
Of loved ones back on the shore

Then a flicker of light, and they knew they were right
There she was on the crest of a wave
She's an old fishing boat, and she's barely afloat
Please God, there are souls we can save

And carry them home, home, home from the sea
Angels of mercy, answer our plea
And carry us home, home, home from the sea
Carry us safely home from the sea

And back in the town on a street that runs down
To the sea and the harbor wall
They gathered in pairs at the foot of the stairs
To wait for the radio call

And just before dawn, when all hope was gone
Came a hush and a faraway sound
'Twas the coxswain he roared, "All survivors on board!"
Thank God, and we're homeward bound

Carry us home, home, home from the sea
Angels of mercy, answer our plea
And carry us home, home, home from the sea
Carry us safely home from the sea

Home, home, home from the sea
Angels of mercy, answer our plea
And carry us home, home, home from the sea
Carry us safely home from the sea.

I'm going to keep posting my personal favorite poems and lyrics about Jesus, seems fitting for this thread.

Psalm 69, by Granpda Jourgensen.

Drinking the blood of Jesus
Drinking it right from his veins
Learning to swim in the ocean
Learning to prowl in His name
The body of Christ looked unto me
A preacher with c*** in his hand
He wants you to s*** o** the Holy Ghost
And swallow the sins of man

The invisible p*** of the Holy Ghost
Comes down like acid rain
They're making a profit off terminal guilt
The scavengers go on parade
The fathers who write that eternity
Is used to fight the sword
Have filled you up with the Devil's c***
And he'll c** in the name of the Lord

Compulsory unionism and corruption go hand in hand.

The LDS church is the only compulsory union I ever belonged to. The other ones didn't threaten me with eternal consequences, let alone temporal ones.

Everything you post here is strange, so my comment fits well with the milieu you've created.

A second and a third time Jesus retired and prayed unto the Father; and while the people comprehended the meaning of His prayer, they confessed and bare record that “so great and marvellous were the words which He prayed, that they cannot be written, neither can they be uttered by man.”

"And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me. So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision."

interesting example of how Midianites are part of the source cultures for the religion that Moses led.
