He flew the coop! Woke up to a note about getting a haircut. Thought maybe one of his buddies came and got him. Nope! Packed up his walker and took my car.
I don't know whether to be shocked or impressed. Hopefully he doesn't undo the work and progress.
I called it right, didn't I? I knew he'd get out of here (and away from me) as soon as he thought he could. Drove an automatic transmission, used the cruise control, and did just fine. He said the hard part was getting in and out of the car.

Recall when he broke his foot last winter he drove around with his right foot in a cast to the knee and used his left foot for everything.

If he messes up the surgery, etc., that's on him. So far he's doing just fine. Walking without assistive equipment on and off and the only time he seems to feel he needs a rest is after doing his PT exercises.

Oh my gosh my Hocus Pocus Blu Ray just froze. What the heck. I'm in here trying to make myself finish craft product for the show and it just stops? Whatever. I've got a little candle burning and the movie. It started up again on it's own? Spooky season is upon us for real.

(See? I've known you so many years I can imitate you. But it's true what happened.)

Sounds like he is determined to do what he wants lol. Maybe he just heals fast.

He drove three weeks after getting a knee replaced??????????
Yes he sure did. Got there, got the haircut, made a quick trip into the grocery store (it's in the same shopping center), then drove home. It didn't seem to bother him a bit. He was tired as usual in the afternoon. That's about it.

Is also be-bopping around here with no assistive device whatsoever. Using the walker intermittently after he does his at home PT.

I knew he'd leave. Both of us are fiercely independent even from each other in most cases. He was going absolutely stir crazy here and I'm more than sure he wanted to get away from me.

He's an extrovert and I'm an introvert. I appreciated the blessed solitude. 8-)
Sounds like he will be ok. I'm sure he will slow down if things start bothering him. A bit bonkers though. Glad you got some peace.

Glad to hear he flew the coop successfully. Got cabin fever, I suppose.

I think I actually have Hocus Pocus 2. ;)

Yes he's like that. I also think he's determined to get away from me. It's like Covid all over again around here.

He drove himself to McDonald's drive through Sunday afternoon. He's getting his regular car back Monday after PT then I assume he's going to drive himself there twice a week now.

Peace is on the way! :)

Gastro appt. with the NP today.

Pre-authorization to Tricare for the special antibiotic (Xifan) sent in with no response. She's going to resend it with (how do I say this) strong language. If no response in a week, she's contacting the manufacturer to ask them to hand over a round for free (urgent need) or at least a discount rate to save me from paying 2400K out of pocket. If that doesn't work, I'm paying out of pocket.

We agreed that the practice isn't equipped to meet my needs and that it was time to level up my gastro care with a referral to a big medical center in Denver. Try that first then refer to Mayo in AZ. She's willing to do either or both referrals. If I want to go straight to Mayo she'll get that going.

Just learned that Walker's Shortbread cookies (fingers) are low fodmap. I just ate some I had on hand ;) with my tea.

They also have a gluten free line I can try. Scottish Shortbread is my all time favorite cookie. I'll try both kinds. Go me!

(If I end up in an ER tonight trust me it will be worth it...that buttery taste? Totally worth it!)

Food choices

I've been obsessing over making fall-ish tea breads (which I love to do) or apple cider donuts so I carefully went through recipes on the Fodmap Everyday website (Monash approved) https://www.fodmapeveryday.com/

and collected up ingredients to make Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies and a Lemon Loaf which is teabread. I also have a recipe for applesauce cookies. The exchanges are special flours made with oats and that sort of thing made by Bob's Redmill.

I have a stay at home day tomorrow so I'm giving it a go with one recipe.

They have a TON of recipes on that website all Low Fodmap. Going to do the same thing with main dishes, etc. Study it carefully and pick out a dish or two to try.

I do have some pasta made from brown rice and quinoa on the shelf now. I can come up with something using those. Tons of oatmeal aroud here as well. I can also make waffles/pancakes with the ingredients I've collected. 8-)

There's probably an approved apple cider donut recipe and I think I actually saw one but I'll stick with these for now. Odd thing is that I never had much of a sweet tooth and probably the past 6-8 months I am craving baked goods. No idea why but that is the truth of it.

I can have hot cocoa so long as it's made with cocoa powder. I've got that, too! So at least some cool weather cozy up favorites are in the queue as well.

Feeling pretty great about it!
