I'll give an update tomorrow after PT so I can include his "angles" that she measures.
So...PT is working him super hard right now. Tomorrow he'll probably need the ice/cooling machine and if it goes anything like last Thursday, he'll feel noticeably better by Wednesday. I couldn't believe didn't get his angles. That's his report card! I'll remind him on Thursday.
To add to the above list of returning self help skills.
11. Can dress himself head to toe...even the dreaded TED hose. Occasionally asks me to do the TED the next day after PT.
12. He "lowered" the temp of the cooling machine by keeping the water cool and only changing out 1 frozen water bottle instead of the 5 we were doing.
13. Almost no pain meds at all except after a hard PT session then only at night.
He thinks he's going to be able to drive next week. I disagree. Low end is 4 weeks out. We'll just see how that goes. Probably wants to get away from me.
This is not an easy recovery. I'd put it somewhere between spine and hip. Hip being the easiest, quickest, and smoothest recovery. Spine being the absolute living hell hardest.
The angle test. Oh man. That number. It became an obsession.
I wanted to walk. Just get me out of this damn wheelchair. The crutches were a nice upgrade.
After 12 weeks the doc said no, can't walk. I was pissed.
I only took narcotics for pain for 3 days. I asked the docs if i could take none and they said no. I asked for a doctor that would do the surgery with local anesthesia only and no general. They said no. I left the hospital with 11 pills and never got more.

Sounds like a rough time. Has it fully healed?
I would say yes. My wife would say no. I didn't do a lot of PT. The process was annoying as hell. I just called a friend and we went and strung barbed wire and welded fence posts. Beat lifting crap in an office. I probably could have healed it better had I listened better and done better.
Winters and storms are more achy than summers and no storms.

Could you have developed arthritis. Often broken bones lead to arthritis years later.
I slipped on ice once and my leg bent like a banana. Literally and boinged back straight and then I was limping and ever since, every winter I get pain down that leg. I spoke to a Dr a few years later who said I'd have fractured one of the bones. I think unlikely but you never know.

Not sure what I got. I am going to research this.
It seems logical that with so many screws and a bracket in my lower leg that something could develop.
