Hello Hound! I would have chimed in earlier but saw that Xeno had the situation well in hand and offered far more detailed guidance than I ever could.
I use this image hosting site: https://imgbb.com/
Ignore all the visual clutter there and click on the blue Start Uploading button. When you get to the codes, I use the Bulletin Board Full Linked option.
Choose:
1. Start uploading
2. Don't auto delete (if you choose a timed delete option the image will disappear from your post)
3. Choose photo
4. Choose upload
5. Choose embed
6. Choose BBCode full linked
7. Copy the link and post it directly into your post. (No board options are needed.)
Occasionally you'll see another link directly below the image link you want. You will learn to recognize it and just get rid of it when you post. It's possibly an advert of some kind and you don't need it.
I post from a Chromebook if that helps to know.
Here's a photo with that second link that's not needed. Look below the image.
simple image hosting
Same photo with the second link removed. Easy!

Thanks, Jersey Girl. Nice for folks to have options for whatever hosting service they are most comfortable with.

One last "tutorial" that may be of value to folks, using the hyperlink functionality.
When linking in a post you have two options where you can either place the link by itself: index.php
Or you can put the link in-line with your text.
For the first option all you will need to do is either directly paste the link or click the chain icon at the top of your post and put the link between the set of brackets. The second option is preferable because although the board has some automatic link shortening functions to it I've found it doesn't always work and putting it within the brackets seems to help with that.
For the second option you will use the same chain button but you'll put the link inside of the first set of brackets and the text you want to be the link between the sets, like so:
["url=index.php"] Put your text here [/url] (minus the quotation marks)

No problem. I copped the idea from one of Cam's posts (in quote mode) a long time ago and have been using it ever since!
