Lockdown?
I have seen some social media saying we are going into another lockdown. I haven't seen anything official. How's things where you all are? I don't think I'd mind if they let the kids stay home for a couple of weeks but if they are going to do it they should have done it before they went back this week or do it ASAP because it won't be long before they catch things. My daughter already has a croaky voice and she only started back yesterday. Doubt it's the flu but they tend to catch something within the first week back after breaks.

Re: Lockdown?
I'm on some Facebook groups here for mothers so basing my comments on theirs. Talk of lockdowns is not happening here locally but...Norovirus is going around and I saw some national news stuff about Bird Flu and Dr. Birx (Covid 19 doc) that it's not being handled well and could set us up for a pandemic?
Maybe what you're seeing is about Bird Flu? Do you recall? I haven't seen anything from the UK so your situation might be very different than ours. Let me know what you find out because what happens there affects us here and vice versa.
I well remember going back to school after a break and everyone getting sick within the first 2 weeks from being exposed to each other again. This happens to both students and teachers of course. Typically strep throat and flu. Then in February it becomes chicken pox season.
The thing is (and folks might not think about this) is when you're in a class as student or teacher, everyone is bringing in outside germs from all their family members and friends. You might as well bring in everyone you know into the classroom because they're already there via their germs!

Re: Lockdown?
Not a word about lock downs. Just some stuff hitting the news now about China having some (possibly) new strain of respiratory disease that's increasing hospitalizations. But it also might be the flu. China has a lot of old people and a lot of people living and working in close proximity. Respiratory diseases can go like wildfire in China.

No talk of it here in the southern US.

Apparently the Chinese flu is going around here and some hospitals are packed with people waiting days to be seen. I can't remember the name of it, I think it's like flu and pneumonia. Not heard anything official so I expect it is fear mongering.

That sounds like what Bond was talking about.

Re: Lockdown?
Yeah. I think so. The only thing that I am aware of as being factual is that some hospitals were crazy overloaded with people with flu like illnesses. I think hospitals have been struggling for a while. GPs don't seem to know much of anything. I had an amazing GP and he decided to merge the surgery into one of those multi-surgery management companies and it's gone to crap. I gave the surgery the RTC form for my son in October, all they had to do was sign the form and email it to the private place. The Dr gave the OK over 2 months ago (each step has taken a while, I had to send it to school first which was the first week of September and then I sent the wrong attachment to the GP, then they took a while). It had been sat in the secretary's pile for 2 months. I gave a very detailed explanation of what each document was and which was the one that needed sending. They finally send it 3rd of January. Got an email back from the private assessment centre Friday, the surgery sent the wrong document. We started this process before summer, hopefully still quicker than the NHS. If the GP didn't merge, I bet he would have done the form and sent it the day I emailed it because that literally was what it was like before.
Anyway. I went off on a tangent :/ I think people are going to a and e because the feel they won't get help or even in to see the GPs.
