Respect for Atheists in Salt Lake City

Post by _moksha »

Dr. Daniel C. Peterson had a worthwhile comment in his blog, Sic et Non referring to the Atheist Convention to be held in Salt Lake City on Easter Weekend 2014:

It’s obviously an in-your-face choice of venue and date, but I hope that Utahans in general, and Latter-day Saint Utahans in particular, will treat them cordially and with respect.

I appreciate Dr. Peterson making this call to treat atheists with cordiality and respect. I would hate to see these atheists greeted by any angry seniors shouting, "tolerance and political correctness is bad". We get enough of that at our own General Conference.

If the Penguins of Peace volunteer to patrol the downtown streets as goodwill ambassadors I'm sure it will be just fine.
