Sorry to hear that, I don't find that the case in my ward or any of the wards I've been to.

The Smith version of Christ, the smith version of salvation, the smith version of god. Wake up and smell it Nehor. It reeks and it is the odor of SMITH.

The missionaries STILL tell the unwitting to read certain parts of the Book of Mormon and to receive a "witness" of it's divinity, thereby receiving a parallel witness of the divinity of Joseph Smith.

Once a person is told they have a witness of Smith, then everything else is gravy. After that whatever smith said/wrote/implied goes.

Yes, that is often the way the Missionary discussions work.....when teaching Christians who already believe in Christ. When teaching anyone else our orders were to give them the Book of Mormon and focus on Christ.

Smith version? Does that come with free patches and updates?

You are so full of it , your eyes are brown.

Mormons will blather on and on about how shhpecial they are for being part of the only "true" religion on earth, and in that same blathering they will talk about how THANKFULLL they are for Joe.

If you have not heard the above blathering in any "of the wards that you have been to", then you must be attending some other church that is not Mormon.

Orders eh?

Why do you were garments? Because a man told yo to do so.
Why did you teach a certain way on your wast of two year mission? Because a man told you to do so.
Why do you believe the nonsense of Mormonism? Because a man told you to do so.

HELLO? Is that a CULT?

So, then why have you not followed the counsel of this "man" and go get yourself a young unwitting 19 year old Mormon girl, get married and start cranking out tithe payers?

This is the kind of thing that I wish MAD posters could read, but I would just be in trouble with the Moderators if I brought it there.

We reverence and praise him. Why can't we sing about him without criticism? Why the criticism? Worse things are sung about in the world today than the good a man did by being obedient to God and being a willing vessel wherewith the true gospel of Jesus Christ was restored.

I don't get it, the song is not one of worship, but of praise. I praise many people in my life and I speak of them about their praiseworthiness....I've written poetry in my lifetime praising many people and things which have held import and meaning to me and who I've become over the years.

I enjoyed the piece you quoted and see nothing wrong with it or the questions insinuated within it, but I honestly don't understand why people are fixated on our reverence and praise for such a great man.

There is a possibility you might understand if you were to read the true history. Start anywhere. Try the Nauvoo Espositor. It's very short. It was written by a former Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. Much of which is testified to as being the honest truth by any current and past faithful LDS leader. Remember, Joseph Smith deemed it a public nuisance and ordered the press destroyed. It brought to light his connection with poligamy among other things.

Ask yourself, "why would Joseph Smith be restricted from being issued a temple recommend (let alone be worthy of baptism) in a church that he faithfully restored?"

Make a list of those things that would disqualify him. It would be a fun, enlightening and disturbing Family Home Evening activity.

Replace man with God in all of the above.

I almost married a young unwitting 19 year old twice now. Once she went insane.

No, wrong again.

A man told you that God said so.

LOL :)

What I find so funny with apologists is their repeated claim that Prophets are fallible but you can't ever pin them down on one thing Joseph could have done wrong. He is to them, worthy of all the praise given and second to Jesus. I find that disturbing given what we know they know of the man.
