So society must be protected. How far would you go to protect society? Germany used the gas chamber to protect their society. France used the guillotine to protect their society. Many countries have tried to eliminate ideas by mass execution. I do hope you are not suggesting that technology is withheld from those who disagree with you.

Persecution and Godwin, Frank? Why not go for the trifecta? Throw in something about Darwin causing the statist genocides of the 20th century.

Stay away from the Black Rock Desert.
ETA: I would go so far as to promote science education and fight for scientific literacy among elected officials. Maybe it would be a good idea to teach critical thinking skills in the public schools at as early an age as is practical. If it became necessary to save the accumulated scientific knowledge from religious fundamentalism I would not see anything wrong with letting society divide itself and see which group wins the subsequent race. That option would be better than returning to the caves.
You guys do what you want and we do what we want and we leave each other alone. What's wrong with that idea?

Kolob’s set time is “one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that whereon thou standest” (Abraham 3:4). I take this as a round number. - Gee

I know that Spotlight does not wish me or anyone else a death sentence for their opinion. But when he opens the door in an argument I just have to point out how crazy some of his statements are. In time he may be more careful in his post. He is pretty solid in defense of science when it comes to the actual details of science. But he tends to inject invalid conclusions in his posts. He assigns opinions on others which they never made. This is inviting a stick in the eye from a discussion point of view.

This kind of stuff just invites the comments I make.

Well, Frank, when you claim repeatedly that science is a dishonest cult, those of us who have actually worked with science, understand science and support science are led to question both your intelligence and your integrity. It seems to me that you are like the person sitting in their recliner relaxing and complaining about the soldiers, firemen, teachers, policemen, doctors, scientists who study, work and invest their precious lives in developing skills and understanding and responsibilities that improve your life and give you health and safety but you ignore, dismiss or slander. So own it, Frank. None of spotlight's comments are nearly as outrageous and untrue as what you've posted. Sorry, dude. You need to go back to school and you need to give respect to people who really do deserve it.

Just how much school do I need. I took 3 semesters of calculus. Three semesters of physics. Two semesters of chemistry. A class on differentials and another on applied mathematics. This along with a bunch of other classes. Just what have you taken to know about science?

I work with amateur and real astronomers, Frank. What I do personally is astrophotography. Have been an amateur astronomer since 1965. I know what science is. I know what it takes and what its results are. I don't have to invoke mysticism or my special feelings or imagination. It's all out there to share with the world. You take the opposite approach of producing some subjective assertion without evidence and bristling at cross examination. That isn't science, Frank. You've espoused pseudoscientific concepts repeatedly. It's a sad fact. You're not alone; many of your fellows do the same thing. That's an education problem. It's not a problem caused by some cabal of imposters who pretend to be scientists by doing things called "observation" and "measurement" and "falsification". Don't be an Eloi, Frank. It's ungrateful and immature.
