I'll make my point a last time. Your statement "animal sacrifice is considered still necessary by Orthodox Jews" is mildly offensive and more than a little misleading, according to practicing Jews to whom I've spoken.

But thank you for the clarification.
Take care, subgenius.
mildly offensive? i suppose that is an upgrade from "tragically flawed"
contrast with the following quote from the Orthodox Union website you referenced before:
"...why an all-powerful, incorporeal God would demand the offering of animals and grain in His worship. On the other hand, we cannot deny that the sacrificial rite is an integral part of Jewish law. Not only are substantial portions of Torah text dedicated to detailed descriptions of korbanot, but these rituals apparently remain, to this day, a critical component of our national aspirations and dreams. Jewish liturgy is replete with prayers seeking the rebuilding of the Temple and the reinstatement of the sacrifices."
apparently you have established that your "practicing Jews" are not of the Orthodox flavor for which i was speaking to.
you are welcome for the clarification

Wrong again.
the irony then, for it was you that in support of knowing what was properly "Orthodox" directed me to the following reference: http://www.ou.org/torah/article/confron ... O8MN29fDHR which completely supported my position. So , apparently - if your friends are orthodox then they stand in opposition on this topic with the Orthodox Union. (is that better?) I think it would be interesting if they could explain, to you, how they can be so contrary to the claim being made on the reference you provided??
