Original Books and Manuscripts OnLine or at Amazon

Post by _Inconceivable »

After wading through the first 4 of 20 pages of the Rigdon et al post, I decided that with that much ahead of me I might
as well just read the books referred to.

I have seen these books at Amazon. Are they published from the originals? Can I even read them somewhere on line?

lol.

Take note that there are two editions of View of the Hebrews. You linked to the 1823 ed.; here's the improved and enlarged 1825 ed.: http://www.antimormon.8m.com/esmithpreface.html

So far as the Book of Mormon, What are the main differences between the original manuscript and the first printing

- besides speculation on who was the scribe?

There are scribal errors, and a good deal of breath has been expended on the Spalding-Rigdon thread to determine whether they're copying errors or dictation errors. This helps us determine whether the original Book of Mormon manuscript might have been copied from a MS by Solomon Spalding. In my opinion, Dan Vogel has argued very definitively in favor of the dictation thesis.
