Mormon instructs his son Moroni and in doing so informs him he is speaking for God:
Moroni 8:7,8 wrote:For immediately after I had learned these things of you I inquired of the Lord concerning the matter. And the word of the Lord came to me by the power of the Holy Ghost, saying:
Listen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord and your God.
Jesus is now speaking through the Holy Ghost to his son Mormon. Now we get a direct statement from GOD HIMSELF concerning his definition of the word “endless” in the application thereof.
Moroni 8:13 wrote:Wherefore, if little children could not be saved without baptism, these must have gone to an endless hell.
Endless hell?
O God, you just told Moroni that if infant baptism was required for salvation and if infants die unbaptized they must therefore go to an ENDLESS HELL! This is proof that the Book of Mormon God (Joseph Smith) truly believed that an endless hell is forever and ever, world without end.
But thank goodness we learn in God’s next breath that babies don’t require baptism so they need not worry about going to that ENDLESS HELL that adults will have to go to! There is only one definition for the word endless in the Book of Mormon, the same as is in the dictionary.
Folks, it’s right there in the Book of Mormon in plain sight. This is God speaking and giving his absolute definition of endless hell which *is* an eternity. I’m afraid the apologists don’t have a leg to stand on. I’m afraid Smith’s excuse in D&C 19 does not hold water. Clearly, Smith was backtracking and was creative in coming up with an idea to excuse himself.
