I think the bottom line is, if someone takes a look at the hard evidence surrounding the Book of Abraham, and still clings to a subjective "testimony" and/or all the apologist rubbish, the thing to do is immediately bail out and don't waste time on them. You're dealing with an idiot. The odds are exceedingly low that you will turn the pig into a puppy. Life is too short.
Here’s an example of subjective testimony running silently amuck within the realms of faith & denial; MG’s poignant response is a confession that nothing can save Smith’s invented Egyptian history which has no place in our scientific world. MG places his faith on a shelf (prison in which the mind is trapped) designed to ignore facts that prove Joseph Smith was wrong. Hence, Mormonism is a kind of prison in which the mind is not permitted or allowed to wander outside the bounds the Church has set.

And I also made the decision to reject Book of Abraham claims that Egypt was founded by a woman in 2300 BC and opt to go with conventional Egyptology.

How about you?
I can let that sit on a shelf for the sake of what I see as more important things. Things that, for me, seem to lead towards salvation rather than damnation.
Maintaining a shelf of lies is how MG copes in justifying things he knows are not true. He knows there is no king’s name in Facsimile No. 3 and a royal Cartouche therein is eternally absent. He knows that! He also knows that ancient Egypt and the Book of Abraham have nothing in common. Absolutely nothing!

Isn't part of Mormonism going along with the Church's sense of make-believe?

It is totally make-believe when the Church officially publishes their false IDEAS (Abraham chapter 1) about ancient Egypt being founded by a woman in 2300 BC. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is a lie that Mormonism continues to perpetuate to this day. Shame on the church. The Mormons cannot be trusted to tell the truth. And, there is no king's name in Facsimile No. 3. I don't care what Joseph Smith said. He was wrong! And the Church today continues to publish lies.
