It seems nonlds Egyptologists are puzzled at some of the work of LDS scholars. They are ok to work unrelated to the Book of abraham .THat is what Hungarian Egyptologist Tamas Mekic told me. Tamas cites some work of Gee's in his massive book on the hypocephalus.

I dare say the only reason there are LDS Egyptologists employed at BYU is for the sole purpose of defending the Book of Abraham and by making it seem that it’s a legitimate piece of work. Well, the Book of Abraham and the Explanations of the Facsimiles are rejected by EVERY nonMormon Egyptologist in the whole world and always will be. Never, not ever, will any credible museum or credible nonMormon Egyptologist embrace the Book of Abraham. It will never happen! Period. End of story. When it comes to Gee & Muhlestein, they are not credible with their Book of Abraham apologetic circus act.
