Thought y'all might find this video excerpt from Gospel Tangents interesting. Or hilarious, just depending.

Long story, but I've been to the chicken scratch village in Karen State (Myanmar) and hefted the transcription of their golden book :D

It must have been a great honor Zosimus!

Distantly related subject have you ever seen research on the Rejang script and language? Lots of West Semitic and Egyptian cognates in Rejang vocabulary. A script that is of Phoenician origin that sort of thing. Sir Thomas Raffles apparently found a stone or two with Demotic Egyptian characters. Sumatra sounds like kind of a riveting universe of its own, and it's on the doorsteps of the Malay peninsula. Anyway, I bring it up because most every alphabet and abugida out there can be said to be "reformed Egyptian", but nowadays the linguists refer to "proto-siniatic" and some such.
