Making my own Dietary Restrictions

Post by Moksha »

If not following Halal, Kosher, or Mormonetic dietary restrictions, what do you think of the idea of making your own for health and spiritual reasons?

Here are some items I wish to ban from my diet as being unhealthy or spiritually yucky:

Organ meats
Blood products
Black licorice
Stale coconut
Tobacco
Baijiu

Here are some spiritually uplifting food items that I really like:

Chocolate
Most coffee products
Beef
Pork
White ocean fish
Shellfish
Chicken'
Fruits
Vegetables
Baklava
Pad Thai
Kimchi
Laksa
Vietnamese bun dishes
French baguettes

Do you have such a list? What items do you have on your list?

I have discovered a most interesting thing with foods.

When I eat brown rice combined with Broccoli and ground beef, and/or chicken, then drizzle lavishly on it some olive oil and sprinkle a heavy dose of smoked salt, it makes a most delicious, nutritious and brain food lunch!

I am still hoping to find some new things for meals. I find I do not have a list but yours has a couple of things I am unfamiliar with. I am puzzled as to why you list white ocean fish in particular. Salmon?

I struggle with thinking of a negative list but your listing stale coconut and tobacco agrees with me.

I might note that Biblical food lists are more a matter of group observance than any particular health concern. The Mormon list is a little of both I think.

Maybe eating a hamburger is observing being an American, they are liked at least sometimes by most everybody.

I was thinking of cod, halibut, grouper, haddock, catfish... but, salmon as the topping of a sushi nigiri sounds great!!! Add a big dab of wasabi to bring your spiritual consciousness into tunnel-shaped focus.

Putting on my LDS thinking cap, we could postulate that black licorice was very unvaliant in the Heaven War, hence the black coloring. Additionally, it probably sided against Nephi in the family squabble and had an unfavorable cosmic number.
